By now, you’ve probably seen The Farmer’s Dog commercial that aired during The Big Game. And if you didn’t, well…get ready for all the feels. When I saw it, my brain immediately brought to mind my Doberman, Cru, and how badly I want him to live a long and healthy life.
Part of keeping Cru healthy involves prioritizing high quality dog food. He’s eaten kibble for most of his life, and truthfully, we’ve been on the fence about switching him to fresh food. This tearjerker commercial gave me the push I needed to give it a try, and here’s what I discovered about The Farmer’s Dog:
It Keeps His Coat Looking Beautiful and Shiny
Doberman’s typically have a sleek, black and rust coat as a breed standard, but they are also prone to skin issues. Cru definitely has his fair share of dandruff, and we are actively trying to address this through supplements that contain essential fatty acids.
Farmer’s Dog offers some of the highest quality, human-grade ingredients that include a combination of essential fatty acids such as omega 3, 6, and 9, and are made fresh without preservatives. After just a few weeks eating The Farmer’s Dog, Cru’s coat is much shinier than it was before, and the dandruff is less noticeable.
They Have Flexible Shipping Plans
I currently work full time, and owning a Doberman is like doing a double shift. He requires a lot of attention and exercise, so having his food covered is beyond convenient. We previously had his kibble on an auto shipping subscription, so I was pleased to find The Farmer’s Dog offers flexible shipping plans, as well, something I wasn’t sure would be possible with food that’s shipped within days of being cooked. Such a win!
Their Food Plans are Customized Specifically for YOUR Dog
Farmer’s Dog offers a short, 3-minute survey to get to know the needs of your dog and customize a meal plan according to your responses. I appreciated the fact that they took into account things such as Cru’s activity level, and whether or not he is neutered. These types of questions inform how many calories your dog needs, ensuring they get the right nutritious ingredients to keep them strong and healthy.
Of course, it’s vitally important that you work with your dog’s personal veterinarian if you have questions about their diet, but I find it comforting to know that this brand was formulated by veterinarians who value fresh, USDA-quality food.
The Verdict
I think the results speak for themselves: Cru’s coat looks great, his poop smells less vile, and as an added bonus: his usual sleep spots stink less, too!
Now that we’ve fully transitioned to The Farmer’s Dog, I’m beginning to suspect Cru believes he’s getting the scraps off our plate instead of dog food—the quality is really that high. For two years now, he’s been eating kibble, and I would be lying if I said he wasn’t always excited about meal time, but there’s a difference in his level of excitement when I bring out The Farmer’s Dog. He knows the sound the package makes, not unlike the cheese drawer.
If you’re looking to transition your dog to a fresh diet, give The Farmer’s Dog a try!
