I Was Skeptical About Whether Kitsch’s Shampoo Bar Could Improve My Dry Scalp… Here’s What Happened

My scalp had been driving me crazy.  So dry, itchy and flaky – it was getting embarrassing how much I’d scratch my head and flakes would go flying. PLEASE tell me I’m not the only one! I’ve tried all sorts of products from moisturizing shampoos to ones made for dandruff, but just haven’t really had any luck.

Feeling defeated, I went to a local boutique as a last ditch effort to find new products and came across the Kitsch Tea Tree & Mint Clarifying Shampoo. At first I thought to myself, a shampoo bar? Really? But considering I’ve tried nearly everything else, I decided I probably had nothing to lose other than a few bucks to give it a shot. So - spontaneous purchase it was!

Easy to use and froths up beautifully

The first time I used the Tea Tree & Mint Shampoo (which was also the first time I used a shampoo bar in general), I was shocked at how well the shampoo frothed up. I just rubbed it across the roots of my hair and scrubbed my scalp like with any shampoo. I honestly thought it might just leave a greasy residue, be hard to distribute, or hardly clean at all, but I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely off to a good start.

My scalp gradually felt calmer and soothed

As clean as my hair was though, the real test would be if it would help my dry scalp. The tea tree oil in the formula is supposed to help with alleviating flakiness, regulating scalp oil production, and preventing the build-up of dead skin. Okay those are some great claims and all, but would it actually work?

After the first day, I could tell my scalp wasn’t irritated - it even felt a bit soothed. Then day after day of using these products, my scalp gradually got more and more noticeably calm. It’s nothing short of a miracle! I find myself itching less, and my flakiness is definitely diminishing. My hair has gone from dull and dry, to very shiny and smooth.

Reduces single-use plastic waste

I’m really making an effort to purchase products that are better for myself and the environment, so I’m glad this reduces my single-use plastic waste. Kitsch’s products are made in the USA and formulated without parabens, phthalates, silicones, sulfates or artificial fragrance.

Kitsch is also a 4ocean Certified Cleanup Partner, which means that with every bar purchased, 4ocean pulls the equivalent of one shampoo bottle’s worth of plastic from any body of water around the world. Score 100 for the planet!

The Verdict

I can’t lie, I’m a convert. The longer I’ve been using Kitsch’s Tea Tree & Mint Clarifying Shampoo, the more improvements I’ve seen not only to my scalp health, but my hair overall. It’s been appearing to grow thicker, stronger, shinier and faster – probably thanks to the Vitamins B, C and E and rice water in there.

It retails at $14 for one time use, but I’ve been paying $11.90 for their subscription because there’s not a chance I ever want to accidentally run out and be without this product even for a day.

If you struggle with an itchy, dry scalp like me and just want overall healthier, shinier hair - definitely give Kitsch products a try.
