One of my favorite things about working in the beauty industry is getting to test new products and technologies. I’ve tried my fair share of skincare devices, including red light therapy. One of my favorites is the Omnilux red light face mask – I’ve definitely seen an improvement to my skin since using it.
So when I was sent a new red light mask by iRESTORE to test out, I wasn’t expecting it to be any more impressive than my Omnilux. Now that I’ve had a bit of time to try it out, let me tell you about the differences and which one I actually ended up liking more…
If you’re looking for the most powerful device…iRESTORE
iRESTORE has gone above and beyond in the power department with their Illumina Face Mask. They have over twice the LED diodes as Omnilux – specifically 360 medical-grade LEDs versus Omnilux’s 132 – making it one of the most powerful LED face masks on the market. This extra power results in deeper skin penetration, addressing concerns like wrinkles, acne, and inflammation more effectively.

With the ability to combine red, near-infrared, and blue light all at once, the Illumina provides a full-spectrum treatment in just one session, unlike competitors that separate modes. To top it off, it covers both the face and jawline, unlike Omnilux, which only covers the face. This is great because I definitely tend to get hormonal acne under my jaw, and this has really helped calm down the look of it.
If you want the benefits of red, near-infrared AND blue light at once…iRESTORE
There are several devices on the market that offer Red, Near-Infrared, and Blue Light in their masks—but rarely with the ability to use them all at once like you can with the Illumina Face Mask.
The red light targets fine lines and wrinkles, stimulating collagen production; the near-infrared light penetrates deeper to improve skin elasticity and reduce inflammation; and the blue light fights acne by targeting bacteria. I love that I’m able to tackle my aging skin, acne, and inflammation all in one go. Omnilux offers no blue light at all, just red and near-infrared.
If you want the most comfortable and convenient fit…iRESTORE
While I’ve loved the flexible silicone of my Omnilux, it’s too bright around my eyes, so I usually have to rest for 10 minutes during sessions. The Illumina, however, features a transparent, lightweight, and breathable hard-shell design with secure straps in the back, offering superior eye protection and a snug fit.

The secure straps keep the mask in place, allowing me to move freely and do other tasks. I’ve recently gotten into the habit of packing my lunch, and now I can stack that habit with my red light therapy—allowing me to prep for the day while giving my skin a little extra care.
If you’re looking to save some money… Omnilux
If price is the biggest factor, Omnilux is less, at $395.00, versus Illumina is $699. However, Illumina is currently on sale for $549 ($150 off), making it a better value considering its extra power and features.
With over twice the LEDs, it provides a more even and effective treatment, better coverage, and offers the blue light on top. It’s definitely more bang for the buck and worth the price upgrade in my mind.
If you’re looking for the highest quality and durability…iRESTORE

The Illumina mask is built to last, made from high-quality, durable materials that undergo rigorous quality control and testing. Omnilux, on the other hand, is made out of silicone which has a tendency to degrade over time. If you’re looking for a sturdy red light therapy mask that will last you for a long time, Illumina is the way to go.
My overall winner…iRESTORE
Well, it looks like iRESTORE’s brand new Illumina Face Mask is going to take the place of my Omnilux in my skincare routine, and I definitely was not expecting that considering how much I’ve loved my Omnilux! It wins in effectiveness, durability, quality and thoughtfulness in every detail.
With its superior coverage, multi-light technology, and unmatched power, the Illumina is a game changer for anti-aging, acne, and overall skin health. After seeing the difference it’s made for me, it’s earned a permanent spot in my routine. If you’re ready to see real, lasting changes, definitely give the Illumina Face Mask a go.
