iRESTORE vs. Omnilux: Which Red Light Therapy Mask Is the Best?

Let’s face it: aging is something we all go through, and it’s not a bad thing. Those laugh lines and sun-kissed spots tell the story of all the smiles we’ve shared and the sunny days we’ve enjoyed. That said, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to take care of your skin along the way.

When I first heard about red light therapy, I was intrigued by its ability to reduce fine lines, sun spots, and acne—all while promoting clearer, more radiant skin without needles or downtime. But with so many options out there, I wasn’t sure where to start.

Two masks kept popping up in my research: the iRESTORE Illumina Face Mask and the Omnilux Contour Face Mask. Both seemed promising, but I needed to know which one truly delivered on its claims. To figure it out, I decided to try both. Here’s what I found:

The more powerful mask…iRESTORE Illumina

If I’m going to put my time in with this mask, I want results. The iRESTORE Illumina Face Mask stands out with its 360 medical-grade LEDs and triple-wavelength technologyred light at 635nm, infrared at 830nm, and blue light at 415nm.

This combination allows for comprehensive treatment of wrinkles, dark spots, inflammation, and acne simultaneously. After six weeks of consistent use, I started to notice firmer skin and a more even tone.

Omnilux’s mask is meant for the same purpose, but it doesn’t pack the same power with its 132 medical-grade LEDs and two wavelengths: red light at 633nm and near-infrared at 830nm.

So while the recommended weekly usage is the same and the promise of results is similar, the wait to see changes is actually longer.

The one with better coverage…iRESTORE Illumina

If I were to ask you which part of your face you’d want excluded from smoothing radiance, which would you choose? None, right? That’s why coverage matters. The iRESTORE Illumina Face Mask leaves no skin behind, so to speak. From your cheekbones down to your jawline and those tricky spots around the eyes and lips, Illumina ensures every area gets its fair share of LED love. Plus, the fully adjustable design fits all face shapes without any awkward fumbling.

In contrast, I found the Omnilux Contour Face Mask’s flexible silicone material comfortable, but it didn’t feel as secure or evenly placed on my face as the Illumina’s hard-shell design.

What I loved about the Illumina is that it stays put, hugs my face perfectly, and keeps the LEDs at a consistent distance.

The Omnilux’s silicone sometimes shifted around, and I couldn’t help but wonder if I was getting the same consistent coverage. Plus, the Illumina just feels sturdier—like it’s built to last.

The safer option…iRESTORE Illumina

I’ll admit, questions of safety were one of my first considerations when I started using LED masks, and I was comforted by the way iRESTORE goes above and beyond in this category. While both Illumina and Omnilux are FDA-cleared, which is essential, Illumina is also IEC safety-tested and ISO quality-assured, bringing an extra level of assurance that this is a safe, high-quality product.

What’s more, the Illumina has integrated eye shields for protection. Not worrying about light sneaking into my eyes allows me to fully relax and enjoy the treatment.

The lower cost mask…Omnilux

Both masks are premium options, but the Omnilux Contour Face Mask comes in at a slightly lower price point, which could be appealing if budget is a top priority. The Omnilux is priced at $395, while the iRESTORE Illumina Face Mask costs $699 but is currently $499 with code SAVE200.

That said, for me, the extra cost is well worth it. The Illumina’s higher LED count, triple-wavelength technology, broader coverage, and faster results make it a more powerful and efficient investment. If I’m spending on skincare, I want a product that delivers noticeable improvements—and Illumina delivers.

If I could do it all again, I would just buy the iRESTORE Illumina

After trying both masks, I can confidently say that the iRESTORE Illumina Face Mask is the better choice for a well-rounded, at-home red light therapy experience. It’s powerful, comfortable, and has that extra safety assurance that lets you relax while you use it.

I’ve already noticed real changes in my skin, and honestly, I can’t wait to see what more time with it will bring. If you’ve been on the fence, trust me—this is the one to try!
