Needed vs. Ritual: Which Prenatal Keeps Me Nausea-Free?

Raise your hand if everything makes you nauseous while you’re pregnant. 🙋‍♀️

The struggle is real, but I don’t want queasiness to stop me from getting my vitamins in!

My baby deserves the best, but I just couldn't stomach most prenatal supplements. I asked around my friend group for advice, and one of the gals recommended Needed’s Prenatal Multi Powder. It’s easy to take and best paired with a meal, which always helps me when I feel nauseous.

For comparison’s sake, I tested it alongside another favorite in the group: Ritual’s Prenatal vitamin. Let’s see what I discovered!

If you want to prevent nausea… Needed

This is a big one for me! I like that Ritual is essenced with mint or citrus, but many women, me included, can feel queasy after taking prenatal vitamin pills while pregnant.

Needed’s multivitamin powder is flavored with vanilla and sweetened with monk fruit extract, and it can easily be mixed into smoothies or nut milk for a slightly sweet, light flavor. It’s also made with organic coconut oil to facilitate smoother digestion and enhance the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients.

Overall, Needed was easy to digest, tasted delicious, and didn't leave me feeling queasy like other prenatal supplements.

If you want the most complete (and tasty!) prenatal supplement… Needed 😋

Now here's something that I consider to be the most important factor when choosing a prenatal multivitamin: micronutrient composition. Ritual’s prenatal has 12 key nutrients, but Needed doubles that with 24 vitamins and minerals for healthy mamas and babies.

Needed’s powder includes vitamins A, C, and B6, plus additions like copper, zinc, and manganese, which Ritual is missing. Why boost your health with 12 vitamins in when you can have 24 instead?

Needed’s pretty pink powder also has a delicious vanilla flavor that I’m obsessed with! 🍨

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option… Ritual

For many women, cost can be one of the biggest deciding factors. If you’re looking for ways to save, Ritual delivers on this point. Ritual’s prenatal multivitamin only costs $39 per month, whereas Needed’s powder starts at $48.99 per month.

While Ritual is cheaper overall, I want to point out that you’re getting the most bang for your buck with Needed. As mentioned above, Needed contains twice the number of micronutrients of Ritual, but not for twice the cost. It costs $69 for a one time purchase, but you can save up to 30% when you subscribe. A 9-month subscription, for example, brings Needed’s cost down to $48.99 per month.

For optimal dosages of vitamins mama and baby need… Needed

At first glance, you’ll notice that Needed and Ritual contain similar concentrations of a few key nutrients like folate and vitamin K2. But, take a closer look, and you’ll clearly see that for all other micronutrients, Needed crushes Ritual.

For instance, Needed’s prenatal multivitamin powder contains:

  • 400 mg of choline (vs. 55 mg in Ritual)
  • 100 mcg of vitamin D3 (vs. 50 mcg in Ritual)
  • 200 mcg of vitamin B12 (vs. 8 mcg in Ritual)
  • 200 mg of magnesium (vs. 32 mg in Ritual)

That's a lot of vitamins!

My ultimate winner is… Needed

See now why I ended up choosing Needed? Between the overall number and concentration of key nutrients, plus its amazing taste, Needed was by far and away my favorite.

While Ritual is a worthy contender, Needed’s prenatal multivitamin powder truly outshines Ritual in my book! 📖
