Peepers vs. Look Optic: Two Reading Glasses Brands, One Clear Winner

I used to always roll my eyes when my grandmother would tell me that I’d need glasses one day. I mean, my vision has been 20/20 my whole life, so why would that change? I was wrong.

As I’ve entered my mid 40’s, I’ve noticed that I’ve been holding my phone, books, magazines, menus, and just about anything I need to read right at the tip of my nose. If that wasn’t tell tale sign #1, then my squinting was tell tale sign #2. I needed reading glasses (I can’t believe my grandmother was right).

So I set out to stock up on readers and came across Peepers and Look Optic—two affordable glasses brands. Here are my thoughts on both:

For refreshingly stylish frames… Peepers

Look Optic offers a limited selection of reader frames, and their styles are pretty underwhelming. I found myself sifting through all sorts of dated designs waiting to get to the good stuff...  which didn’t come. When you just want a stylish pair of readers, this process can feel frustrating.

Peepers, on the other hand, makes it easy. Their selection is both extensive and on-trend, no matter what look you’re going for. There’s a variety of frame shapes, colors, and widths to suit your personality and your every need. Want to curate a selection of readers for every mood? You can do that. Want to snatch up six of the same pair so they’re always at your fingertips? You can do that too. Their virtual try-on is a great place to start.

For affordable options… Peepers

I love to find the best deals, and it was no different when it came to finding reading glasses. That’s why I love that every pair of readers on Peepers is priced between $25 and $30, and you can customize the strength without any added costs. Many are also available as progressives for only $45, which is pretty unheard of, considering they usually start at around $150.

Look Optic’s reading glasses start around $68. For something I know I’m going to misplace, toss on the table, and beat up, that’s way too much for me to spend.

For blue light protection… both

Screens are all around us and they take a toll on our eyes. Luckily, both Peepers and Look Optic have blue light protection frames to choose from. In fact, Peepers Blue Light Focus™ Lenses are made with proprietary baked-in technology that filters high-energy visible blue light alongside your prescription.

Peepers frames also have a 7 Layer Anti-Reflective Coating, which enhances contrast and visual acuity by reducing reflections/glares.

For durable frames… Peepers

Durability is non-negotiable. I need readers that can handle the arduous, ongoing journey from my face to my bag to my face again, to being pushed up on my head, tossed in my car, grabbed alongside my keys, you name it.

Peepers readers are built to hold up beautifully. My Take a Bow frames have taken a beating and still look and feel great, and they’re notably lightweight considering how substantial they are. They even have a Dual Anti-Scratch Coating for long-lasting protection.

While Look Optic does have a fair amount of ultra-lightweight frames, I’m weary that they’ll break or scratch, given that they feel so delicate.

Peepers is my go-to for glasses

With how stylish, durable, and affordable Peepers reading glasses are, how could I look anywhere else? I love the broad selection, lightweight comfort, and that blue light protection is built-in for many pairs.

So, if you’re starting to notice yourself squinting to read and zooming in on every picture like your mom does, you might want to start stocking up on readers. It’s been the best decision I’ve made. Thanks, grandma!
