PSA: Did You Know Everyone’s Favorite Nursery Must-Have is HSA/FSA-Eligible?

If you have a qualified Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account, I have some great news: the parent (and celebrity) favorite Nanit Pro Camera is FSA/HSA eligible

FSAs allow individuals to set aside money for healthcare expenses on a pre-tax basis while HSAs are investment accounts meant to pay for medical expenses under a High-Deductible Health Plan.

If you have either of these accounts, that means you can use your tax-advantaged funds to get your hands on one of the smartest baby monitors around.

Why Nanit Pro?

For those who have never heard of this Babylist and celeb-favorite: the Nanit Pro is a next-generation baby monitor that boasts 1080p HD video and high-quality, two-way audio in a simple device that’s powered by a great app—but what really sets it apart (aside from these impressive specs) are its extra features.

The Nanit Pro includes a built-in nightlight and is capable of playing white noise or lullabies, tracking room temperature, and even monitoring breathing and other vital signs.

You can access all of your child’s data in detailed sleep reports that track movement and developmental milestones all through the Nanit app. Better yet, the app is backed by state-of-the-art encryption, so your baby’s data is for your eyes only. It’s truly a sophisticated piece of technology and an all-in-one parental sidekick.

What Makes the Nanit Pro HSA/FSA Eligible?

The Nanit Pro typically starts for $249, but using funds from a qualified HSA or FSA can save you around 30% (depending on your income) which is a great way to put your dollar towards peace of mind.

You might be wondering—can any baby monitor qualify as an eligible HSA/FSA expense? Unfortunately, not quite. For instance, traditional audio-only baby monitors may not be eligible.

More modern baby monitors that also track breathing and vital signs—like the Nanit Pro—are HSA/FSA eligible because they are considered health and safety-related.

I lean on my Nanit Pro as I would a night nurse or sleep consultant for my baby. It tracks and tells me about every movement they made during the night and gives me video summaries every morning with a detailed sleep efficiency breakdown.

Because the Nanit Pro is truly akin to an all-around health monitoring device, I’m excited to see that it’s HSA/FSA eligible. I would go as far as to say the Nanit Pro has even improved my health because I slept better knowing the Nanit Pro is monitoring my little one.

How to Use Your HSA/FSA to Buy the Nanit Pro

Using your HSA or FSA to purchase the Nanit Pro is simple—but since plans can differ, it’s always a good idea to confirm eligibility by contacting your insurer or FSA/HSA account administrator to make sure that the Nanit Pro is eligible under your plan.

Once you determine your eligibility, you can use your HSA/FSA debit card to purchase the Nanit Pro or pay with a different method and submit your receipt for reimbursement through your FSA/HSA provider. Nanit sends an order confirmation over email that can easily be used for this, just remember to hang on to it in case you need purchase documentation come tax time!

The Nanit Pro has been one of the greatest additions to my parenting toolkit. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

If you have some cushion in your HSA, or FSA funds from 2024 expiring soon, I say it’s a great time to get your hands on the Nanit Pro so you—and your baby—can sleep a little more soundly.
