You know how sometimes you can’t find anything good to eat? I’ve been having the same issue when it comes to feeding Martino, my mini doxie. Despite him loving all food (I seriously think he forgets to breathe when he eats), his tummy doesn’t feel the same way (IYKYK).
That’s why I started looking into human-grade dog food and decided to try two of the most popular options, Sundays and Maev. Martino only licked one bowl clean… and only one let me sleep through the night without him waking me up to go outside!
Find out which below:
If you want food with ZERO prep time & peace of mind… Sundays
While researching the difference between air-dried (Sundays) and raw food (Maev), I learned that Sundays air-dries the food at 160℉ to kill germs and lock in nutrients. Maev, on the other hand, does not have this step. While I read on Maev's website that the food is rigorously tested for E.coli, Salmonella, Listeria, and Micro (APCs), for me, Sundays process instills in me the most confidence.
The other thing with Sundays - it stays fresh without refrigeration or freezing for 6-8 weeks after opening, so it’s not at risk of getting moldy and potentially harming your pup with bacteria. Plus, you can take it on-the-go (like a bag of kibble).

Maev, on the other hand, requires freezing to stay fresh. Unfortunately, my order was delivered late to my door, and when I opened it, it got gross and messy from the lack of refrigeration.
I’d rather not waste money like that, so I’m going with Sundays.
If your dog is a picky eater… Sundays
I know I said my dog LOVES any and all food, but he seriously couldn’t get enough of Sundays. He licked his bowl so clean that I didn’t even need to wash it.
It’s probably thanks to the fact that Sundays is made with human-grade meat, fruit, and veg, so it tastes like a treat, and its air-drying process locks in flavors. Whether it was the chicken, beef, or turkey mix, he gobbled the clean ingredients right up, and his tummy didn’t take a turn for the worse AT ALL.
Maev is also made with meat, but Martino didn’t seem to eat it as quickly. Also, Maev only has two flavors (Chicken and Beef) whereas Sundays has 3. Some dogs can be allergic to chicken, so I like this extra option from Sundays.
If you value the best nutrition… both win
Much like Sundays, Maev also includes USDA proteins, plus vegetables and fruit. Both food labels include a Guaranteed Analysis of the protein, fat, fiber, and moisture breakdown.
Sundays goes the extra mile by including a breakdown of vitamins and minerals such as Calcium and Phosphorus. Transparency is everything!

If you like free shipping… Sundays
In my humble opinion, shipping should always be free. Sundays offers free shipping to all 50 US states. So no matter your dog’s size, shipping is always free. Sundays costs $69/box with a subscription—40% less pricey than fresh-cooked.
Sadly, Maev only offers free shipping for orders of 6 bags or more, plus tiered discounts. The more your dog weighs, the more their food will cost. But if you have a small pup, like Martino, you’re likely to have to pay for shipping with every order. Maev is also expensive, starting at $67-$71/bag + shipping costs.
Martino and his tummy LOVE Sundays

Don’t get me wrong: Maev is a great option for fresh food. But as time has passed, Martino and his tummy love Sundays. It’s easy on the way in and the way out, fresh, high-quality, flexible to incorporate into our lives, and the free shipping lets me spend more on his favorite toys.
