Okay, who else is about to melt in this 100+ degree weather? ☀️ No matter where you live, it’s very likely that you’ve experienced way-higher-than-normal temperatures and, if you’re like me, you’ve been living in bike shorts and leggings. Ain’t nobody got time for sweaty denim!
My go-to brand for activewear is Fabletics. I have yet to find a brand that gives me the same comfort and quality, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious about the “dupes” I’ve seen on TikTok. Girls are swearing that they are just as good as Fabletics but for a fraction of the price, so I had to try it. After all, the lower the price, the more clothes I can get, right?
First, let’s talk about price 💰
When you become a new Fabletics VIP member, you can score deals like 2 for $24 bottoms and 70% off everything. It doesn’t get much cheaper than $12 leggings! Every month, your $59.95 Membership Credit can be redeemed for any 2-piece outfit or item up to $100, so that’s a pretty big savings.
A lot of the Amazon leggings were less than half the price of Fabletics–some as cheap as $18! But if you’re factoring in the VIP offers, you can pay less for the real thing than you would the dupes. The price of the dupes is attractive, but they aren’t really worth the money in the long run.
Plus, as a Fabletics member, the major discounts keep on coming: think 20-50% off everything (always), and free shipping on orders over $49.95. I personally love to rack up my credits (what you get once your monthly membership fee is charged) and buy several outfits at once–it feels more like a shopping spree! 🛍️
Cheaper isn’t always better
I’m not usually the “you-get-what-you-pay-for” type. You can absolutely get good quality for a low price…just not in this case! The Amazon material was also too thin for my liking, and they started to tear at the seams. And don’t get me started on the pilling! They started pilling like crazy after just a little wear and tear.
Another thing I didn’t love about the Amazon leggings is how quickly the color started to fade–it only took a couple of washes!
I much prefer the thick, soft Fabletics material that really smooths and holds me in, keeping me comfortable no matter if I’m working out or running errands with my kids.
I have a navy blue outfit from Fabletics that I got three years ago, and it still looks just as dark and lovely as it did when I first got it. 💙
Fabletics has a variety of styles, colors, and sizes
You can’t go wrong with solid black bike shorts and leggings–they go with everything and they’re a staple in every closet. But it’s also fun to venture out and wear bright colors and patterns, something that the Amazon choices were seriously lacking. Plus, the sizing only went up to XXL.
Fabletics has so many color and pattern options that it can feel impossible to choose, in the best way—the colorblocking on these leggings is everything. Sizing also runs from XXS to 4X, which is much more inclusive.
So, are the Amazon dupes worth the hype?
I’m a little biased because I’m a huge Fabletics fan, but my vote is no. Even though they seem like a better deal upfront, they just don’t hold up in terms of quality. 💪
This summer heat is uncomfortable enough without having to worry about your leggings sliding down or making you feel like you’ve been dipped in salty water. There really is no comparison for the style, quality and longevity of Fabletics leggings and shorts, so they remain my go-to brand!
