Who said dogs shouldn’t eat healthy food too?
Feeding my puppy the best food was important to me. So, I went searching online, scouring the internet for brands that were producing tier-one goods for pet owners. I’m not going to lie. The search led to overwhelming results, but all of it was worth it for my pup, Oakley.
I narrowed it down to two strong brands–Ollie and The Farmer’s Dog– that claimed to provide dogs with amazing food. It was tough, but I am confident I made the right choice. Check out my results!
If you’re looking for high-quality ingredients…The Farmer’s Dog
I take my own personal health very seriously. And I wanted to start ensuring Oakley was getting the finest ingredients too. I would be happy to feed my pup either The Farmer’s Dog or Ollie since both are made with no fillers or artificial flavors. But The Farmer’s Dog takes a slight lead for me with their gently-cooked formulas that preserve vital nutrients like Omega-3 fatty acids, amino acids, and minerals. Read: it supports your pup's immune system function, healthy skin, and a glossy coat.
If you’re after a brand that’s received a ton of pawsitive reviews…The Farmer’s Dog
Ollie and The Farmer’s Dog both have a ton of quality reviews. However, what sets The Farmer’s Dog apart is the type of reviews. Dog owners who utilize them were reporting back fewer vet visits, increased vitality, clear skin, and shinier coats. Plus, there was also a great deal of feedback saying that their dog had less odor and if you can believe it–better/healthier stools. Yep, you read that right. Therefore, in the end, it made for a pretty simple win for The Farmer’s Dog on this front.
If you want a brand to really know your dog…It’s a tie!
When you go over to a friend’s house for dinner, typically they’ll ask you, “Are you allergic to anything” because they want to get to know you a bit, in order to serve you an appropriate meal. Having a brand make my Oakley healthy food was important, but having them truly understand the ins and out of my pup mattered even a tad more. Both Ollie and The Farmer’s Dog offer questionnaires on their sites that are detailed and personal, so they could really get down to making the absolute best-customized plan for my dog!
If you’d prefer a brand that’s more affordable…The Farmer’s Dog
Money isn’t everything, but let’s keep it real. Even pet owners have to count the cost. So, although it was really close between these two brands, I was excited to learn that The Farmer’s Dog plans can start at $2 a day! This was huge. Ollie’s plans start a $4 per day.
With The Farmer’s Dog, not only would it be ideal to find amazing food for Oakley to devour, but I could save and now put money towards other needs for Oakley that I’ve been wanting to splurge on now.
The Ultimate Winner… The Farmer’s Dog
At the end of the day, I was genuinely surprised by the number of food-prep companies there were out there conjuring up healthy dog food for our furry friends. However, every brand paled in comparison to The Farmer’s Dog; from the affordability, fresh ingredients, and overwhelmingly-positive feedback from customers. Hopefully, now I can find a dog spa that’s just as amazing. Until then, it’s bon appetit!
