I love having friends over, and this warm weather is the perfect excuse to plan my next summer party. I’ve asked my mixologist best friend to create some custom cocktails for the occasion, and I know they’re going to be sweet.
As for me, I’m going to feed everyone, and I’m thrilled about it—my accountability partner recently turned me on to Hero Bread, which is a 0g net carb, 0g sugar bread with protein that still tastes and feels like regular bread. Take a look at how I’m putting this amazing bread at the center of my picnic table display!
1. BLTs — a refreshing fav for hot days
There's no denying that the BLT is a beloved sandwich that has stood the test of time. How can you not salivate at the combo of crispy, savory bacon, juicy tomatoes right from my garden, farmer's market lettuce, and freshly toasted bread lathered in mayo? I'll be stacking up these sammies because they always are a hit:
- Skillet-toasted Hero Classic White Bread with a gorgeous swipe of mayo spread
- Lots and lots of thick cut crispy bacon 🥓
- Ripe, red, juicy sliced beefsteak or heirloom tomatoes
- Fresh, cold, green leaf lettuce 🥬
2. Crostini Bar — an easy win for the picky eaters
This one’s for the friends who will show up decked out in their nicest summer dresses and breezy hats, even just to come to a party at my house. I’m pulling out all the stops with a make-your-own crostini curation with all the essentials! For inspiration—and a quick-grab option for anyone who isn’t up for DIYing theirs—I’m going to pre-load a few toasted Hero Classic White Bread slices with:
- Smashed avocado with lemon juice, tomato, and lots of seasoning
- Thinly shaved honey roasted turkey, garlic aoili, and fresh tomatoes 🍅
- Cream cheese, raspberry jam, and almond slivers
- Pimento cheese, dry mustard, and marinated peppers 🌶️
3. Spinach & Cheese Strata — vegetarian comfort food with a twist
In addition to having 1g net carb, 0g sugar, 60 calories, 6g protein, 12g fiber per slice, it’s filled with flax, sunflower, and pumpkin seeds that satisfy you with both nutrients and great flavor.
Back to the casserole, this Hero Seeded Bread inserts texture and heartiness, and most of all, it turns into a delicious savory bread pudding:
- 1x1 inch squares of Hero Seeded Bread
- Pasture raised brown eggs whisked with half-and-half🥚
- Finely chopped spinach and sautéed white onions
- A rich combination of gruyère and parmigiano-reggiano cheese🧀
My favorite thing about Hero’s white bread is it has 0g net carbs, 0g sugar, 45 calories per slice, 5g protein, and 11g fiber per slice.
Hero Bread all summer long
If you haven't noticed, I am really loving Hero Bread right now. It's one of the only bread brands that is healthy but still tastes delicious. My friends are working on their summer bods now, so I know they'll appreciate that my recipes use this low carb, high-nutrient bread.
