As we age, we're forced to square up against an unwelcome enemy: hair thinning and loss. Whether it be hormone fluctuations, heat styling damage, or just plain genetics, various brands have claimed to be the best at restoring those luscious locks.
I tested three popular hair loss products–Vegamour, OUAI, and Rogaine–to see which brand ultimately takes the crown...
If you want natural, toxin-free products: Vegamour wins!
Vegamour shines when it comes to good-for-you products: their offerings are free from sulfates, parabens, keratin, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances. Out of the bunch, Vegamour is the only vegan option, whereas OUAI (a P&G brand) and Rogaine (a Johnson & Johnson brand) are not vegan.
OUAI products lack sulfates and parabens, but contain keratin and synthetic fragrances. Rogaine contains minoxidil, which can bring its own slew of potentially concerning and otherwise uncomfortable risks such as irritation, scalp itching, or burning.
On the other hand, I breathed a sigh of relief when I read Vegamour’s vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free ingredients list.
Vegamour leaves out ingredients found in popular hair care such as minoxidil and keratin, instead using plant actives such as turmeric, red clover, and Karmatin™, which impact the environment positively.
Karmatin™ is a vegan protein that replaces keratin, a naturally occurring hair protein. Hair products that contain keratin are washed out before they can truly make a difference, whereas Karmatin™ bonds to the hair, resulting in shiny, boisterous locks. I love that Vegamour’s innovative solutions leave hair healthy and nourished.
For efficacy and simplicity: Vegamour wins!
All three products showcase increased hair density and less shedding, but Vegamour’s results stood out to me. Vegamour’s numbers are impressive–users report 76% less shedding and a 52% increase in hair density. OUAI brings a similar performance percentage to the table, but with a routine including dietary supplements plus a hair serum, I found OUAI’s two-step process to be less user-friendly.
Rogaine, OUAI, and Vegamour are all easy to use, but Vegamour excels. Vegamour's GRO Hair Serum is applied topically to the scalp once per day–easy! Similarly, Rogaine is applied twice per day, but that additional dosage is something extra I have to worry about throughout the day.
If you're looking for full hair routine: Tie Between Vegamour & OUAI
All three products require long-term use for the best results, but unlike Rogaine, which works best when used indefinitely, Vegamour and OUAI make it easy to incorporate hair growth actives into your entire routine. For example, Vegamour’s range of shampoos, conditioners, dry shampoos, and more in the GRO and GRO+ lines make maintenance a breeze.
So, if you’re looking to maintain hair growth results with a line of products rather than just a treatment serum, Vegamour and OUAI are better choices than Rogaine.
If you want an easy subscription option: Vegamour wins!
Another one of Vegamour’s competitive advantages stems from its subscription model. Neither OUAI nor Rogaine offer a subscription model, so you’ll have to be mindful about placing another order when necessary. Vegamour’s flexible subscription model–which allows subscribers to choose their frequency and pause, cancel, or update anytime–means that you can focus your attention on your fabulous fuller hair (rather than the technicalities).
Plus, the subscription bundle for the GRO Essentials Kit is only $128.00!
If you want the product with rave reviews: Vegamour!
When it comes to rave reviews, Vegamour reigns supreme. With a proven track record of delivering visible results, 95% of customers reported seeing less shedding and fallout after consistent use and 100% of users noticed that their hair looked visibly healthier! After hearing about other customers' results, I knew I needed to try it myself.
The ultimate winner between Vegamour, OUAI and Rogaine: Vegamour!
Overall, I definitely think Vegamour is the best option for kickstarting your hair growth journey. It’s clinically proven to be efficacious, hormone-free, and plant-based, so you can feel good about a clean product while working towards regrowth.
I’ve already started replacing my hair care routine with Vegamour’s GRO Collection.
