Where is My Comment?

Liz Cadman
ByLiz CadmanSep 2, 2020

Thank you for being a part of the subscription box discussion on MSA!

Your comment may not appear immediately. Here are some reasons why:

It’s your first time commenting on the site. For spam and safety reasons, all first comments must be approved by our admin before appearing on the site. (This will also apply to you if you comment with a different email address for the first time.)

Your comment may include a word that we filter for. Certain words trigger our filters to flag the comment as potentially spam or offensive. Sometimes these words are completely innocent and it’s just a context situation. These comments will appear as soon as they are approved by admin.

Your comment includes a link. For spam reasons, all links must first be checked by admin before being approved.

Your comment includes an email address. For your safety, we first have to approve comments that share your personal email address to make sure this was intentional.

Your comment is off-topic. Sometimes readers aren’t sure where to reach us, so they comment on a post to ask us a question. In cases like these, instead of approving the comment, we may just email that person directly with the answer they need. (For reference, please email [email protected] with any questions.)

Other times, a post may remind a reader of something that isn’t related to the box. Depending on the situation, that comment may or may not be approved.

Examples:

“A little off topic, but that last sentence in the review made me think of the movie Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. Anyone else love that movie?” (OK)

“A little off topic, but the painting in that box made me think of how much I hate this politician and their policies on….” (NOT OK)

Additionally, some comments may not appear at all or they may be removed if they violate our discussion standards. Here are some of the types of comments we do not allow:

  • Comments with offensive or harassing language.
  • Comments posting referral links/codes.
  • Comments offering to sell/buy items/boxes.
  • Comments that are designed to provoke and do not add to the discussion.
  • Comments that invalidate others’ rights to their opinions. Negative critique of boxes/items is OK. Negative critique of other users’ opinions is NOT.
  • Comments discussing the physical appearance of models.
  • Comments that present false information as fact and may mislead readers.

Example:

“I hated this box - I couldn’t use any of the items and felt like the value wasn’t great, either.” (OK)
“Anyone who likes this box is a fool.” (NOT OK)

If someone has violated these commenting guidelines multiple times, they may be banned from commenting in the future.
