As a curvy girl, finding the best shapewear is ALWAYS a top priority for me. But, let me tell you, it is hard finding good shapewear that is comfortable, supportive, and gives you a smooth look under your clothes. At times, my confidence can be a determinant of how I look in a certain outfit and having the right shapewear underneath is a foolproof way of ensuring I will be feeling good as hell!
Today, I will be comparing the new kid on the block, Yitty, Shapewear Reinvented by Lizzo with their Nearly Naked Shaping Shorts, to the OG of shapewear, Spanx with their Thinstincs 2.0 Mid Thigh Shorts.
If you value comfortability… Yitty
One of the first things you will notice about Yitty is how incredibly smooth the fabric is. Made mostly of recycled nylon, the fabric is softer than butter or a baby’s bottom (cough cough - why they call it nearly naked!). Then, when you put it on, the stretch of the fabric is truly unmatched. Heads up: you will probably first be shocked by how little it looks, but it truly conforms to the shape of your body when you put it on.
Although I found Spanx also comfortable, they did not have the same level of stretch and the fabric was not as soft as Yitty.
If you are looking for size inclusivity… Yitty
When purchasing Spanx, you can find sizes ranging from XS up to 2X. Although, Yitty takes this a step further by really focusing their brand on size inclusivity and carrying sizes from 6X - XS!
If you care that your shapewear is seamless… it’s a tie!
Both Yitty and Spanx passed the seam test for me! Shapewear shaming is a real thing y’all, and although I am a big advocate of doing whatever makes you the most confident, there is nothing more annoying than seeing the seams of your shapewear through your dress.
