I have to be honest, I am so picky with perfumes and scents that I was a bit nervous to have someone else pick them out for me! I filled out a little survey in my account with the perfumes that I currently wear and like, and Scent Trunk chose three samples to send to me. They arrived in a bubble mailer with a box inside. The box had the three samples, cards explaining the perfume, and a little booklet explaining how to apply it and smell it properly!
Scent Trunk also has a points program and you can find out more information about that on their FAQ page! Every purchase earns points that you can redeem for store credit at Scent Trunk.
Poet’s Jasmine by Ineke - Full Size - $78.00 (Sample: $2.08)
Scent Trunk describes this perfume as "A fragrance inspired by Poet’s Jasmine tea, replete with slices of citrus fruit." The top notes are citrus and warm-wood, the middle notes are jasmine and olibanum and the base note is Hinoki wood. The longevity is 3 out of 5 and the sillage is 3 out of 5.
This actually reminds me quite a bit of my favorite perfume, Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. The scent is very similar and I love it!
Geisha Hana-Cha by Aroma M - Full Size - $90.00 (Sample: $3.80)
This scent is described as "Flower tea. Frankly, this is pretty. Garden party pretty." It has pretty sad reviews on the Scent Trunk website, so let's get into it! The top note is bergamot, the middle notes are jasmine and ylang ylang, and the base note is cedar. The longevity is 3 out of 5 and the sillage is 3 out of 5 as well.
The first sniff of it is ok and as it settles it mellows quite a bit. I don't get a bug spray vibe, like one of the reviewers on their site, but it is not my favorite in this shipment. There's something in it that smells off.
Sleep Knot by 4160 Tuesdays - Full Size - $110.00 (Sample: $4.40)
Scent Trunk explains the inspiration behind this perfume like this:"In February 2015, Sarah McCartney was asked to create a perfume to spray on hotel pillows, for people planning a romantic weekend away. They wanted jasmine, sandalwood, ylang ylang and black pepper, some of the loveliest natural materials on the planet." The top note is ylang-ylang, the middle notes are jasmine and black pepper and the base note is sandalwood. The longevity is 3 out of 5 and the sillage is 4 out of 5.
When I first spritzed this one, I didn't know how I would like it. As the fragrance settled, I decided I liked it quite a bit! This is one that I would buy a full size of and use it sparingly.
Verdict: This month was more of a win for me than last month. I enjoy two of the scents very much, and the value of these three comes out to $10.28. The value of this box lies in the curation, an opportunity to try out artisan perfumers that don't sell their scents widely, and the point system available.
