This shortbread is a great example of what an artisanal tastes like and what mainstream tastes like. As a lover of road tripping I have stopped at my share of gas stations, 7-11’s and corner markets and I have purchased my share of sweet and salty treats from all over the country. Keebler Sandies shortbread cookies were always good on a long stretch of road but after trying the shortbread from Sugarbird Sweets the differences between the two are vast. Mainstream shortbread taste processed, sugary, crunchier than they should be… and the ones from Sugarbird are delicate, flakey, buttery and balanced in flavor. You can taste every ingredient (there aren’t many) because they have been baked together with purpose and precision. They may be simple but I simply can’t get enough of them. These cookies are also wonderfully nostalgic of vintage times when shortbread was homemade and given to houseguests with a cup of wafting tea. Nibbling this delicate shortbread makes me feel like a character from Downton Abby, all poised and demure. If only the cookie came with a classic cornucopia brooch…
Based on the Mexican confection cajeta this rich and velvety goats milk caramel is hand stirred in small batches for up to five hours in traditional copper kettles. Infused with straight Kentucky bourbon and organic sea salt to enhance the smooth and complex flavors of the caramel, this sauce is mildly sweet and simply irresistible. Amazing drizzled over vanilla ice cream, over fresh fruit, or straight off the spoon.
These baked and bite sized multi-grain snacks deliver a refreshing piquant-sweet flavor without any overwhelming pickle-y or oniony tastes. Each Hoot is loaded with flavor and has a little zing at the finish as you bite into each tangy and satisfying crunch. Loaded with multigrains and fiber they are free from preservatives and artificial flavors and are a healthier alternative to mainstream potato chips.
This wild superfruit will nourish your soul and sustain the rainforest all at the same time. Made from 100% organic fruit there are more than 35 acai berries packed in every strip. The berries are blended with chunky bits of pineapple and then slow dried to deliver zingy flavors that will sweeten your smile brighten your day. It’s rich with antioxidants, amino acids, and healthy omegas and will satisfy your soul when you need a little sweetness in life.
Handmade in small batches, these fruity artisanal candies are a colorful bouquet of chewy, sweet and tropical treats. The individually wrapped assortment includes a lovely combination of cherry, strawberry, tangerine, lemon, fruit punch, pineapple and coconut to deliver all the tropical flavors of true paradise. Made with all natural extracts these candies are fun for popping in one by one or mixing and matching for a buttery blast of fruity flavor.
With locally fresh chopped Kalamata olives baked into fresh Wisconsin bread, these California Olive crackers deliver rustic and earthy flavors in each bite. The base of the cracker has a smooth salty taste rounding out the olives, which lend a slight vinegary taste at the finish. Crunchy and scrumptious these crackers are flat bread thin but sturdy enough for spreading. Top with goat cheese or an olive spread for a simple and satisfying snack.
