This month's theme is Best of British!

Now, onto the items!

look-fantastic-august-2016-013

Percy Reed Hair Wonder Balm - 30 ml Value $9.40

This balm is a fragrant gel that can work for both towel-dried hair and fully dried hair. If you're applying it to damp hair, this is designed to work as a base for styling products and makes hair styles last longer.

I tried it out on dry hair and I liked the softness and scent it added! It helped with fly-aways, too!

Bloom and Blossom Rejuvenating Facial Mist - 40 ml Value $7.80

This facial mist is made with 98% natural ingredients. My favorite ingredient is the lime oil - it makes this spray so refreshing! (Plus, I love that the mist itself is a very fine spray.)

look-fantastic-august-2016-014

Bee Good Vanilla & Honey Lip Balm - 10 ml Value $6.50

When I saw beeswax was one of the main ingredients, I expected the formula to be similar to Burt's Bees but this is more of a gloss - thinner than your typical lip balm. And it gives way more shine that lip balm, too.

I won't use this for regular lip balm use, but it's great to add a lot of shine without any stickiness that some glosses have.

Renuskin Advanced Anti-Aging Lip & Eye Active Lift - 7 ml Value $23

Before I even tried this, I was happy to see on the packaging that this formula is paraben, fragrance, and gluten free!

This lightweight cream absorbed almost immedaitely, and it was gentle on my skin, too. This is my new eye cream for the next week or two!

REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist – 9 ml Value $5.70

I just received this in the latest Limited Edition Birchbox, and I'm a fan!

This mist is supposed to provide a layer of protection for your skin against everyday pollutants.

I really like the scent and found the formula to be very refreshing. (And I like that you can apply this throughout the day over makeup.) The mist isn’t super fine, so make sure to hold it a good distance from your face before spraying!

Balance Me Congested Skin Serum - 7 ml Value $15

I've sampled the Balance Me line before, and I really like that their formulas are free of parabens, sulfates, and other ingredients you may want to avoid.

This serum is lightweight, gentle, and all around lovely. Plus! It has an amazing lemongrass scent!

Elle UK Magazine August 2016 Value $6

look-fantastic-august-2016-009

Each Look Fantastic Box also comes with the latest issue of Elle UK. I love mini magazines, fashion magazines, and foreign magazines, so this is the trifecta for me!

The Verdict: This month's box has a value of about $73 - I think that's amazing for a $22 beauty box shipped from overseas! It's also a great way to try out some new brands. I really liked everything in this box, and while it was a little skincare heavy, that ended up working well for me this month.

This is an A+ beauty subscription box for me. The brands are great, the value is consistently good, the magazine is a nice special touch, and the packaging is fab, too!

Okay I did it. I just signed up for a year at $15 per month USD. So even though Ipsy has been picking up and doing better for me, bye bye Ipsy. It really is for a younger age range than mine and I don’t think I’ll miss it. I’m looking forward to the Argon Gold BB Cream. At 10 ml it is 1/3rd of the full size of 30 ml and is double the cost of the box. I can’t wait to try it. I like that you can sign up for a longer subscription and get the lower price and pay monthly instead of up front. Can’t wait.

Does anyone know if I order today, will I receive the September box?

Casey

You’ll get this month’s box unless it specifically says it’s sold out on their website. You can probably still get it. I’ve never seen one sell out until the very last days of a given month.

I am really thinking about this as I have been stalking it for a year. The Elle mag, would totally push me to get it. I don’t see on their website if the Elle mag comes every month. Does anyone know if the mag is monthly with the sub? Or is the September mag/box, just a one time deal?
Thank you.

I think they just started to send the magazine this year. I’ve been subscribed since February, and it had the magazine, and I remember reading in reviews at the time that it was a new thing. The September box was the first box I received that didn’t have the magazine, but I think someone mentioned here that it couldn’t be sent because it wasn’t printed in time.

Thank you, Luna!

I’ve been eyeing this box for some time. I think when I am in a better place financially, I will make the leap. That Balance Me Congested Skin Serum is awesomesauce. I actually bought the full size through the LookFantastic site as it was a much better deal than buying from other retailers.

I agree that the Congested Skin Serum is awesome…best thing in the box. Since finances are an issue for you, like me and most of us, I just want to make you aware that if you commit to a year, they only charge you 15 a month, and you can still pay it monthly, not in a lump sum like all the other boxes want.

I just saw that the Look Fantastic Advent Calendar is available for pre-order. Did anyone get this last year? Was it worth the money?

SarahFrances

I hope it’s good, because I just ordered it 🙂 Thanks for mentioning it here.

Luna

I didn’t get one last year, but I did purchase one for this year out of curiosity. I read that if you’ve subscribed to Lookfantastic for the current year, then it’s probably best to skip the advent calendar, because it’s mostly repeats from what was in the boxes for the year. That’s what some reviewers said for the 2015 advent calendar. I’ve been subscribed to Lookfantastic since February, so if that’s the case, I’ll most likely receive duplicates.

I love to read others comments, but if something appeals to me (despite some negative or meh review), I’ll still try it out for myself and make up my own mind. I believe this is only the 2nd time Lookfantastic has done an advent calendar (I could definitely be wrong on that though), so maybe they took in the feedback, and hopefully decided to include some items that weren’t included in their monthlyboxes. Even if not, I know I’ll still be happy with the advent calendar, because I’ve loved all of the products I’ve received this year.

Is this actually the review of the September box, or did it take this long for the August box to arrive?!

Reply ButtonReply

Bonnie

I am a new subscriber, and I just want to let you know that Look Fantastic arrives before any of my American subscriptions do, and I live in America. I have received both the August and September boxes.

Laura

How was the September box?

CT

This is the August box (theme was chosen for the Olympics) =) The September box is the birthday box.

CT

I also received this box and loved it! All Look Fantastic boxes include the Elle magazine; however the September one didn’t (didn’t print in time), but I’m sure it’ll be the only exception 🙂

I wish My Little Box from the UK would ship to North America (I’m Canadian).

Luna

There are so many UK beauty boxes I wish would ship to the US just so I could try them out. The ones I still read reviews for, even though there’s no chance of me getting them are:

You Beauty, Latest in Beauty, Cohorted Beauty, Love Me Beauty, Mintd Box, Look Incredible, and Powder Beauty Drawer.

They’re not all subscriptions, but some of them do have boxes that come out a few times per year. I think they’d be fun to try at least once.

Bonnie

Ugggh I know. I’m in the US and in love with British pop culture, fashion, and beauty. I have actually written to Cohorted to ask if they could send to America and they said no, but possibly in the future.

Regina

This is my favorite subscription box. I signed up for the 12 mos., so its only 16.50 per month. No problems, no drama, and comes like clockwork every month! Love it!

Veronika

I signed for a year and pay just 15$ a month

Reply ButtonReply

Casey

Yes! Same here. $16.50 sounds so much better. And it always ships on the 1st of the month for me so it’s usually the first box to show up every month for me!

Look Fantastic is one of my fav subs. I wish more UK subs shipped to the USA.

Casey

So happy to see another Look Fantastic review. Thank you! Please keep them coming 🙂

Will do! This is box is so fab I have no issues continuing to review! 😉

Hi Liz, question for you…does this sub charge in US dollars or British Pounds? I don’t want to take a hit if currency conversion is involved as rates always fluctuate. When I go to their site it shows GBP price. Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

hm, maybe try changing the currency in the top right corner of the site? That’s what I did and it showed the USD price throughout the checkout process, and I believe that’s what I was charged, as well. Hope that helps!

Kate

Will try that, thank you!
