ModCloth Loch and Key Blanket Scarf – Value $34.99

fabfitfun_092016-012

There are 4 different color variations, so you may receive a different color than pictured.

fabfitfun_092016-013

The scarf measures 55 by 55 inches, is made from 100% acrylic, and is very soft – not itchy at all.

This scarf is BIG!

The “blanket” description of this scarf is very accurate! The material is lightweight, though, so it keeps this scarf from being too bulky.

There are tons of ways to style this, and for the first look I went with my tried and true method I apply to any large scarf – turn it into a circle scarf:

Here is the multi-color plaid scarf styled with the simple over-the-shoulder approach:

And the black and white scarf as a wrap:

I think this scarf is a really versatile piece, super cozy, and the patterns are classic, too! (Plus this comes folded in the ModCloth wrapper, so it’s also ready to gift if you prefer!)

(Check out all of my FabFitFun reviews to see what's been in past boxes).

So wait. It’s popsugar’s fault that ModCloth sold their scarves to target? Or more likely, it’s Popsugar’s fault that Target copied the ModCloth line and put the scarves out themselves? Because that’s what y’all are saying.

I completely agree. Plus, the Target knockoff scarves in my local Target certainly didn’t say Modcloth on them.

Fantastic pictures, Liz! You look like modeling could be your actual job.

I want to know if FFF had any black Friday deals last year? And if so would it be better to wait or just give in now?

Nice scarf and wearing it as a wrap would be good for my office which is always cold to me in the winter/early spring months. And my Target didn’t have any of the scarves so I guess others grabbed them up before I could get there. I have been going back and forth about this box so I might go ahead and give it a try.

I loved my modcloth scarf from the Fall Box. I’m sure that if you look for cheaper versions of anything, you will be able to find them, that doesn’t mean that it’s a bad item or box. The comments on these updates are like reading a complaint box sometimes. Can only imagine how the bloggers must feel because even as a consumer reading this stuff, it’s a downer.

Well said!

You make a good point! Almost all items in sub boxes can be found for less money, and the prices are often inflated to pad the retail value. That doesn’t mean you still didn’t get an overall good price to value ratio. I get offended only when an entire box looks like castoffs from the dollar store (looking at you, Peaches and Petals).

Liz, I love all your scarf styling options, and it looks like each of the color varieties are quite nice!

Thanks for understanding what I was trying to say! As much as I love a bargain and feeling like I’m getting a deal, buying a surprise box o’ stuff is more about the excitement of getting something I didn’t pick out but might love anyway. I would love to get my hands on the green/blue blanket scarf above. It’s so cute!

I also found my blue and green checker scarf at Target for $7. Felt deceived. All I can say to this box is recycle much?

That’s all it took…. One spoiler and I am on the fabfitfun train again. I kicked myself for missing the last two boxes. Glad to see this scarf because I really wanted it. Can’t wait to get my hands on this box.

I actually received the scarf pictured above in my fall box. Insert says they’re valued at $35. So I was rather surprised to have found this exact scarf at Target. In the Spot section for $7!! It comes in a variety of colors and yes it was 100% acrylic like the one in my fall box. I also found the adult coloring books in this same section at target very similar to the one in my fall box- again same quality for quarter of the price. So basically the fall box had some overpriced items.

I mean…. I hear you, but if you’re paying $40 (or even $50) for the box with 10-12 items, you’re not really paying $35 for the scarf, are you?

I did the quick math on what I actually PAID for my Fall box ($39.99 plus the free fruit infuser bottle with the code I had) and it broke down to $4.44 not including the water bottle, wipes, deodorant. If you paid the $49.99 it was $5.55 across the 9 items (palette, scarf, coffee mug, lavender oil, serum, brow gel, spongelle, toesox, coloring book).

At the end of the day, the scarf they send was selling for $35 on the ModCloth website and is currently sold out now, so it’s a real value whether you think it’s inflated or not. All boxes do this – there is gold- or rhodium-PLATED jewelry that says “RV $125” that I can get at TJ Maxx for $14.99. I’ve found that you have to pick and choose what you assign the “value” to when it comes to boxes!
I liked the Fall FFF box for the $239.99 value it had, because most of the value was there for the $40. Even if you take it down for the scarf value, it was still about a $200 value box.

Julea

Exactly the same here. I was bummed. Felt like I was lied to

I actually use the scarf as a throw lol. Its much too hot in southern NM to even think about scarves, but it is cool enough in the mornings that it makes a great light blanket to cover up with while drinking coffee!
