Each box comes with a fold-out card. October's theme is Nightmare.
Exclusive Nightmare Shirt - Value $15?
This is the monthly exclusive tee. I recognize characters from Soul Eater, Tokyo Ghoul and Death Note. I knew a box with a Nightmare theme would feature some creepy things, but this design is really unnerving. It's not my style at all. On the other hand, my boyfriend seems fine with the design, but he prefers the tees from previous months.
Death Note Socks - Value $10.99
Subscribers got either Ryuk or Light crew socks, and I received Light. This is a comfortable polyester blend that goes up to my calves. My boyfriend always needs more socks so this will go to him.
Exclusive Ghoul Mask - Value $15?
This mask is modeled after the ghoul mask that protagonist Ken Kaneki wears in Tokyo Ghoul. The fit isn't spectacular. I had difficulty making it stay on my boyfriend's face-- the straps don't stay tightly secured around his head so the mask falls off when he moves around. I do like the functional zipper accent on the mouth.
I based the value off of a similar mask here.
Tokyo Ghoul Funko Pop Ken Kaneki - Value $11.99
Subscribers receive one of two Tokyo Ghoul Funko Pops. I got Ken Kaneki. Even as a cute Funko Pop with a huge head, his ghoul mask still freaks me out. The paint job is slightly off on some of the white hair and mask, which bothers me a little bit.
Soul Body Pillow Case - Value $12?
This is a fan-drawn double-sided pillowcase featuring Maka and Soul from Soul Eater. Body pillows are great, but body pillows of characters in suggestive poses is certainly not my style. An item like this is very taste-specific too (in my opinion, it's not tasteful at all). This one is a complete miss for me.
Lost Pause Sticker - Value $2?
This is a bonus item. Akibento recently started introducing YouTubers on their info cards and October's box features Lost Pause.
Akibento Monthly Pin - Value $1?
This is the monthly Nightmare pin. I recognize the googly-eye snail creature but I don't know where he's from.
Verdict: Unfortunately, the Nightmare theme really missed the mark for me. Most of the items simply weren't my style. That body pillow cover was especially strange-- I will definitely have to find it a new home. I estimated the total value to be $68, which is more than twice the cost of the subscription. As usual, I still think the info card leaves a lot to be desired. If they could just be slightly more descriptive, I would have a much easier time deciphering what the characters and items are!
