Fandom of the Month Club is great about covering a wide array of movies, books, TV shows, and even video games like Zelda. I'm so excited to see what's in this box!
Navi "Hey Listen" Magnet - Value $2?
Every box comes with a magnet. Up until the beginning of this year, the magnets were all done by a specific artist with a minimalist style. More recently, the magnets have deviated from that aesthetic—this business-card-sized magnet, for example. Navi's little catchphrase is an iconic (if sometimes kind of annoying) part of the game, so I'm glad it's captured here!
Small Printed Pouch – Value $10.38?
Each month, the jewelry items come packaged inside a zippered cotton pouch printed with a design inspired by the fandom. Since this is an exclusive design, I couldn't find it online. I linked to something similar, but I don't think this pouch (which is only about 4" x 5.5") is worth quite $10.38. The way the image of Link and the Ocarina is printed on the canvas seems like it's going to wear off pretty easily. It's kind of plastic-y, and I can see the edges of the design, almost like I can tell where it was heat-transferred on.
Rupee Charm Bracelet - Value $15.00?
What a clever idea! This charm bracelet features red, blue, and green rupee gems as charms that hang from a simple silver chain. It's a pretty simple bracelet, but I like designs like this that aren't blatant tributes to the fandom, but which definitely make fellow fans do a double take.
This item is also exclusive, so I just linked to something similar to get an idea of value. The bracelet I linked to has slightly more sophisticated charms, though. I'd say this bracelet might be worth around $10.00, but I can't be sure. The charms are metal (I think) shapes that have been coated in some kind of paint. It's not fancy, but it is pretty fun.
Hylian Shield Ring - Value $10.00?
I'm guessing again, in terms of value, so I've linked to a similar product to help me estimate. This ring is really cool and higher-quality than I would've assumed. It has a nice weight to it, and the enamel design is pretty crisply done.
I like that it's adjustable, but seeing this kind of flexible band reminds me of so many inexpensive rings that have gone green and tarnished in no time. I'll just have to paint it with clear polish, then be selective about when I wear this guy (I don't think it'll last if I wear it every day).
Triforce Earrings - Value $20.00?
Another exclusive! I linked to something similar to help convey the value, once again. Boy, I wish I knew where these products came from—I'm kind of bummed that I don't think they come from small Etsy companies, though those companies do sell really similar pieces. These earrings are about a half-inch long on each side, so they really pop against my ears. This is another example of a design that most folks wouldn't recognize as being a video game reference. I could see wearing them with a fancy cocktail dress. They'd be a cool way to identify the geeks at a party (and make some awesome new friends)!
Ocarina Song Necklace - Value $22.50?
This is the most clever item in the box in my opinion. These little beads form the notes of an ocarina song! There are even little shapes on each one telling you what buttons to press!
The beads are just metal, and it doesn't feel like the sturdiest necklace. But I really love the concept. Like other pieces, I couldn't find this exact piece online, so I linked to a similar necklace.
Verdict: The designs in this month's Fandom of the Month Club were so clever, but as usual, quality wasn't amazing. Still, $16.75 (for the $13.00 box + U.S. shipping) is a great price for six unique items. Are they worth the almost $80.00 I estimated based on the most similar items I could find? Eh, maybe not. But they are still super fun for a really affordable box!
