Odacite Pure Elements Papaya for Hyperpigmentation, 0.17 oz - Value $39.00

This gluten-free facial serum is specifically made to combat dark spots. The trick is that this potion is a concentrate, rather than something to be used on its own. The directions say to add 2-3 drops to your moisturizer in the morning or evening to start working on an even-toned glow. According to the info card, this company focuses on plant-based products made in small batches, which I love. This concentrate isn't just effective, but also contains no parabens, petrochemicals, nor phthalates, are 100% non-GMO, vegan, and cruelty-free. Oh, and it smells divine. Romantically floral and citrusy at the same time.

Odacite Pure Elements Oleosomes Time Release Delivery Creme, 1.69 oz - Value $68.00

Aha! This cream is also in the box, which can serve as the medium for the concentrate or a moisturizer all on its own. Like the hyperpigmentation drops, this cream is 100% natural, vegan, and cruelty-free—awesome! It has a loose consistency that becomes even more liquidy when you add the 2-3 drops of oil, but it goes on easily and smoothly. (It's not so loose that it's watery and hard to control.) I was really impressed by how lovely this combo felt on my skin. It's lightweight and takes its time to fully sink into my face, but instantly my skin felt softer and more hydrated. And that soft feeling lasted for several hours, too. I can't wait to see how this impacts my skin after a few weeks of routine use!

Henne Organics Nordic Berries Lip Exfoliator, 0.35 fl oz - Value  $24.00

The final item in the box looks like it could be a lipcolor with its deep berry-red hue. It's actually just a scrub made with sugar, raw coconut and jojoba oils, shea butter, beeswax, and Vitamin C rich raspberry and blueberry powders. Rubbing this rub on for a few seconds, then letting the oils settle in for a few seconds more left my lips feeling ridiculously plump and smooth. Plus the aroma of sweet, jammy berries wafting up towards my nose as I used it wasn't bad either. What a treat!

Verdict: The August Boxwalla Green Beauty subscription box has a value of about $131.00, which is significantly more than the $50.00-ish price point of the box. While $50.00 is a lot for a subscription box, I'm delighted by the quality of the three products I received. I love that two of them work together, too! If you're used to high-end luxury skincare and beauty products but eager to swap natural alternatives in for chemical-laden formulas, I feel like this box would be a fun way to discover new, thoughtfully made brands that fit your high expectations.

I loved this box! I might put the lip scrub for swap as I make my own.

It’s awesome! I’m glad you’re enjoying it, too, Michelle. I’ve been using the Odacite products in combination with one another for awhile now, and I can definitely say that my skin feels and looks awesome. I’m not sure if it’s specifically targeting any hyperpigmentation, but my skin looks more nourished and it definitely feels fantastically soft, smooth, and a bit bouncier, too. This might be my new fave skin product I’ve found via a subscription box 🙂

Thanks for your comment, Michelle!

I consider Luna a beauty sub / product guru and find all of her comments here on MSA very helpful! (Knowledge much appreciated!)

I will just add that I’ve been very interested in trying Glowing Beets and Boxwalla Beauty too but haven’t pulled the trigger based on my personal needs, preferences and budget.

I jumped on the Pearlesque bandwagon mid last year and LOVE it! And I love how easy it is to skip when I want / need to. I also took a leap of faith and tried Beauty Heroes for June, July, August and have been thrilled! – although I do prefer getting to try more products a la Pearlesque.

I really wish I could afford to get all of them! And a few others like Indigo Beaux. 🙂

For best bang for your buck, I think they’re all pretty much the same in terms of RV to cost ratio. If you’re looking for the highest RV box, I think it’s a toss up between Beauty Heroes, Boxwalla, and Pearlesque as all of their boxes tend to have an RV of at least $90.

I think Pearlesque is the most flexible as they allow you to skip months, however since you can easily cancel online with Glowing Beets & Boxwalla they also make it very easy to “skip” boxes. There’s no flexibility with Beauty Heroes. You have to subscribe for a minimum of 3 months, with no skip option.

As for who has the best variety, I think that’s definitely a personal preference. If you’re looking for variety in brands, then Glowing Beets & Boxwalla are your best bets since Beauty Heroes & Pearlesque showcase one brand each month. If you’re looking for variety in sizes of products (i.e. mixture of full-size & travel sized), all but Glowing Beets is a good choice as Glowing Beets only offers full sizes. If you’re looking for variety in terms of types of products, I think they all offer a nice variety of skincare, bodycare, and sometimes hair care. I can’t recall ever really receiving a makeup product in either of these boxes (with the exception of one Beauty Heroes box last year, and maybe a lip tint in a Boxwalla box)., but I could be wrong. Since you mentioned skincare though, I would recommend Beauty Heroes or Boxwalla, as I think I’ve seen more bodycare products in Glowing Beets & Pearlesque.

Good luck on choosing one! I know it can be a hard choice. 😉
