Akibento “Guardian” Box December 2017 Review

This month's box features characters from One Punch Man, Naruto Shippuden, and more! Let's check it out:

product list for december 2017 akibento box back of akibento booklet

This month's theme is "Guardian".

Akibento Monthly Pin - Retail Value $1.00

Every Akibento box comes with a little pin to suit the theme.

anime tshirt design

Exclusive Akibento Revival T-Shirt - Estimated Value $25.00

I couldn't find this shirt on the Akibento online shop, but most of their tees range between $25.00-$30.00. This one features... I think... characters from either No Game No Life or Sword Art Online... I just can't tell. I love the colors though!

no game no life pins no game no life pins

No Game No Life Sora and Shiro Pins - Retail Value $11.99

These pins on the other hand? Definitely No Game No Life. Each glossy pin is about an inch big and has a solid post and back. These aren't quite enamel pins, but they'll certainly go nicely with the enamel pin collection I'm amassing on my jacket!

anime lanyard anime lanyard strap detail id card lanyard

Sword Art Online Asuna and Kirito Lanyard - Retail Value $10.99

It's been awhile since I used a lanyard since I don't have a school ID card or anything to carry around with me. If you do like using a lanyard, either for IDs or just for keeping track of your keys, I feel like this one is pretty darn cool. I love the icy color palette and the silky smooth finish—it's really comfortable to wear, even if you've got a heavy chunk of keys on the end. The strap is about 36" around, give or take an inch. Oh, and did you see the Asuna and Kirito charms? So cute!

saitama keychain in box funko pop one punch man keychain one punch man funko pop keychain one punch man keychain

One Punch Man Funko Pop Keychain - Retail Value $7.90 (Found here for $6.32)

Aww, how cute is this Saitama keychain?! I'd generally prefer a full-size Funko Pop figurine, but there's something charming about the idea that I can tote this one around with me. Saitama is only an inch and a half tall and has an opposable head! The Funko Pop version of him is giving off serious Charlie Brown vibes, don't you think?

naruto character plush toy from front naruto character plush face on naruto character plush toy

Naruto Shippuden Gaara Plush - Retail Value $15.99

It's hard not to love a plush, especially when it's of someone like Gaara, who just really needs someone to give him a hug, haha! I love the attitude in this 9" plush, as well as the detail—beneath his folded arms, there are little buckles printed onto his fabric vest!

exclusive anime apron one punch man apron flat one punch man apron body

Akibento Exclusive C-Class Hero Apron - Retail Value $25.99 (Found here for $19.99)

The design of this apron is fun, though the fabric is a little weird. It's listed as "T 95%, C 5%", which I assume is... Tencel and cotton? It's a slicker finish that I would've expected, but hopefully, that helps it be a tad more resistant to water. Some of the stitching is a bit loose so I'll have to be careful when I wash it. It definitely makes my "cook at home more often" resolution a lot more exciting, haha!

The Verdict: I liked the items in this month's box, though I wish the apron was a little nicer quality. I loved the accessories, though—the pins and keychain are fun ways to show off your fandom without being too overt (at work, for instance). And the t-shirt is super cool with the fading rainbow colors—it reminds me of that black art paper that you "draw" on with a special pencil to reveal the rainbow lines beneath.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up by the 19th of this month to get the February box!

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $29.95 (cost + shipping). I estimated that the retail value of the items inside was $98.86. That means that, proportionally, I paid approximately the following for each item:

  • Pin - $0.30
  • T-Shirt - $7.57
  • Pin set - $3.63
  • Lanyard - $3.33
  • Keychain - $2.39
  • Plush - $4.84
