FLASH SALE! Use coupon code YAY to save $20 off this box!

The Products: The hottest seasonal items (worth at least $200) selected by the FabFitFun team

Ships to: US and Canada

Check out all of my FabFitFun Box reviews and the Women’s Subscription Box Directory!

This box comes with a card detailing each of the items included. (FYI - this is the first time FabFitFun has offered customization for the Editor's Box. I'll show you all the options in the review.)

FabFitFun sends out a mini mag in each box. It details the items included and also provides background on some of the featured makers and designers.

Now, time for the items!

Spongellé Body Wash Infused Buffer in Bulgarian Rose - Value $16

This is one of my favorite subscription box beauty discoveries!

If you aren’t familiar with Spongelle, you are in for a treat! It infused with body wash, and the sponge is firmer than your typical bath pouf, so you get exfoliation added in, as well! (And it should last for at least 14 uses!)

Whish Nourishing Dew Mask - Retail Value $54

This ingredient-conscious brand is: Leaping Bunny certified. Paraben free. Sulfate free. DEA and TEA free. Petrochemical free. Phthalate free. Naturally sourced with organic goodness. Made in the USA. Yay!

And the mask felt lovely on my skin. I've been in need of all the hydration I can get thanks to the super cold weather we've been having lately - our heater is running nonstop. The directions for this mask don't indicate how long to leave it on for, but I kept it on for an entire evening (it mostly absorbs after a minute), then rinsed it off before bed. My skin definitely felt more moisturized and plump after removing it.

Way Of Will Bath Salts - Retail Value $35

These bath salts are made with 100% natural ingredients:

Himalayan Salt, Essential oil - Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Oil, Piper Nigrum (Black Pepper) Seed Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Cedrus atlantica (Cedarwood) Oil, Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Oil

The salts are designed to help stimulate circulation and soothe sore muscles, plus I love the natural scent.

Real Her Playbook II Shadow Palette – Retail Value $28

Good to know: all Real Her products are free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, gluten, and phthalates!

This set includes a mix of satins, shimmers, and mattes. The pigment is good on all shades but especially impressive on the shimmers.

Here they are swatched:

MakeupDrop Original – Retail Value $20

I received this in a few other subscription boxes and I am a huge fan! Typically, I use a beauty blender or a stippling brush to apply liquid foundation. This silicone applicator gets the same flawless application look of the beauty blender, but it has additional benefits:

  1. No foundation absorbing into it! With a Beauty Blender or brush, I’m always losing some foundation to the tool itself, but this silicone isn’t porous, so all makeup goes on your skin!
  2. Super easy cleanup! Just soap, water, and towel it off and it’s good to go! No waiting for beauty blenders/brushes to dry!

OK, that wraps up the items that will be in all boxes. Now, time for your customized choice options. After you subscribe, you will have the option to go into your FabFitFun account and pick your choice of Fashion, Jewelry, and Wellness items.

Here is the fashion item in this box:

BB Dakota Poncho in Black – Retail Value $70

(You can pick this poncho or the Mer-Sea & Co. Scarf in Grey or Blush.)

(If you pick this item you'll receive it in the black shown here, or a lighter grey.)

This poncho is open in the front and drapes beautifully.

Here are the care instructions: Machine wash cold, no tumble dry, ironing OK on delicate setting, dry cleaning OK.

(The fabric is 65% acrylic, 35% polyester.)

It features a blanket stitch edge and just like a blanket, it’s super soft and cozy! (Perfect to keep at a chilly office!)

And, it is reversible!

Here’s a better idea of the size of the poncho:

(And you can see the little tag you might want to remove on the reverse side.)

Here is the jewelry item in this box:

Summer & Rose Bar Chain Earrings in Rose - Retail Value $38

(You can pick these earrings or the Summer & Rose Double Bar Necklace in Silver.)

These delicate earrings measure 2.5 inches long. I think they are the perfect dangly earrings for someone who appreciates minimalist jewelry design.

Here is the fitness item in this box:

Private Party Gym Bag – Retail Value $59

(You can pick these earrings or the African Botanics Revitalizing Therapy Gel.)

This bag is denim with cotton straps, an outer zip pocket, and measures about 20 inches long.

Here is the bag on to give you a better sense of scale:

(You'll receive one of three different phrases on the bag.)

Verdict: This box has a retail value of $320! I think this is a fabulous Editor's Box - they included some of the most popular items from past boxes and some brand new items, too. It's a good mix! And I love that they are letting new subscribers customize their first box! (Once you are a subscriber, you'll have the option to pick some of your items every season, and if you are an annual subscriber, you'll be able to pick your color choices for some items, too.)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! Make sure to sign up asap as supplies for customization are limited.

FLASH SALE! Use coupon code YAY to save $20 off this box!

Value Breakdown: At $39.99 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

I used a code to get the editors box as my first box, as promised, and made my selections of items after purchase, then the following day I received and email from their customer care saying that would receive a starter box instead?!?!!??!!?!?
They have refused to send me the editors box that I was promised, JUST HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tammy

I received an email from FabFitFun and the code I got, and a few of my friends received as well, it made the box ONLY $29.99. If anyone wants the code just let me know. You get the same stuff and get to chose the choices.

Mollie Rebecca

I would love to have the code please!!

Reply ButtonReply

CJ

Just read your post. Would you please share the code?

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

CJ, the code YAY in this post also works for $20 off and makes the price $29.99. Hope that helps! 🙂

Tammy

Sorry I just seen Liz’s coupon for $20 off. I read the first comment and she said she got $10 off. Wish I could delete my post.

Got my Liz discount of $10!!! The makeup her palette, the makeup tool and spongellle got me going! I was thoughtful this time! I waited and hoped the dang MSA discount was over or biz sold out… but it wasn’t … plus poncho looks good. On website forbreal palette is $29 so I did well.

This box is amazing and I tried to order it tonight. After I subscribed, it said that I had to fill out a personal survey and then I would be able to customize my box… but the survey wouldn’t load, so I couldn’t fill it out, and so I wasn’t allowed to continue on to the customization page! I emailed customer service and hope I get a reply soon. I really want the Mer-Sea wrap and the African Botanics gel, and I know they both have to be specifically selected (and I have no interest in the poncho or the gym bag). 🙁

Just want to follow up on my previous comment. I emailed FabFitFun’s customer service last night, and they got back to me first thing this morning. The person who helped me was friendly and polite, and assisted me with the customizing of my Editor’s Box. I was very impressed!

Is anyone looking to sell the earrings in gold?? I would LOVE to have them.

Reply ButtonReply

I bought the box just for the earrings. I justify it by saying I will totally use the other stuff.

Reply ButtonReply

Aarjullor

The flash code isn’t working for me. It keeps saying it doesn’t exist. It should be good for another hour.

I am very pleased with my box. I chose the earrings, therapy gel, and scarf. I could care less for the jewelry, but love the scarf and gel. I could always use a good gel for my arthritis. I also just love the box itself. Right now I have all my beauty items from all my beauty boxes in it.

Reply ButtonReply

Joy S

I was so disappointed in the gel. I have chronic pain and was so looking forward to this gel. It felt good putting it on..and then..POW! I was hit with the most caustic smell of cat spray!! I don’t have cats so I know it wasn’t on me already. I am unable to use it. I am so bummed.

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

Joy,
I use the gel primarily on my knees and it does stink but so far all my gels and creams smell so I was expecting it (I use them at night). I think it’s decent, but I wouldn’t pay full price for it. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and it helps take the edge off, but to be honest my knees are not that bad yet. My next flare-up will be when this is actually put to the test. LOL.

Taylor

Are you looking to swap or sell the earrings?

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

I was going to look into selling the earrings.

Liz

Anyone else having issues with the flash sale code? 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Z

I did. I thought it went through but then my card was charged the full amount. I sent them an email immediately.

Does anyone know if their CS is responsive when it comes to this kind of thing?

Reply ButtonReply

LB

I’ve had a few issues with add ons and damaged products and CS has always been polite and helpful. I’m sure they’ll help you out!

Dani

Loved this box. I got the scarf since I got the poncho in the winter box. But the scarf sheds so much that I really wish I got another poncho. I wear the poncho basically every day!

Anyone know how to stop the shedding from the scarf?

Also when will we see the first spring spoiler??

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

I washed it on hand wash and air dried in the house. It hasn’t shed at all 😊

Reply ButtonReply

WB

If you wash the scarf on delicate and dry on low heat it should stop the shedding.

Reply ButtonReply

Mandy G.

Blush scarf and Charcoal wrap are sold out. I REALLY wanted the blush scarf.l. oh well. Jewelry choices are the earrings Liz shows ( which I got) or a triple silver finish necklace.

You can choose between the workout bag or a botanical body gel. I chose the gel since I have the gym bag.

I will likely use everything in my box except the brown and beige toned eyeshadow palette.. but that’s always the case with my unusual coloring and the neutrals in those shades.
I’ll put mine up for swap.

Liz can I just say if I could buy this box I would by you wearing the Poncho. It’s gorgeous on you. And the Denim Bag, Wow. you make everything look great.

Reply ButtonReply

Angie

Love this box and will be a forever fan. But for people who already have all these it is a bit repetitive. But for newbies I think it’s an amazing box for them to try and get the best of both worlds . Fff was my first ever box I ever got and will never get rid of them bc their amazing! But I didn’t order it bc I only wanted the Whish mask 😀 so it’s a no go for me .

Reply ButtonReply

Joy

I got the same silicon makeup applicator in one of the LE Birchbox kits and I don’t get it. My foundation was a damn mess– very streaky and uneven. Def didn’t achieve anything close to an airbrush finish.

What am I doing wrong? Does it work better with some foundations than others?

Reply ButtonReply

Jamie

Mine too. I tried both sides and it didn’t blend out well at all.

Reply ButtonReply

WB

It does take a little bit of practice…I hated it the first few times. The biggest thing with these is to use very small amounts of foundation. If you use too much it will come out streaky or you’ll feel like you have a mask on. So start with a drop and work from the center of your face outward. It’s easier for me to fold it around my finger to get around my nose and eyes. That’s just how I’ve found is best for me. I’d love to hear other methods though.

I use only 1 tiny bead, much smaller than a pea. Then i lightly dab it on 4 spots (cheeks, chin and forehead) then work from there to spread it eavenly, drawing it to areas than need more coverage, and finally lightly pat pat pat all over to smooth out lines. If i have time, i finish it with a light quick brush swirl , mostly if im applying powder to set.

Kathy

Try using less product. I found that I must use much less product than I used with beauty blender (only 1/4 to 1/3 of the amount of foundation). I get flawless coverage this way. I use this everyday and clean up is so much easier. I found videos on their website showing how to use and it was very helpful.

Bella01

Joy, I’m doing something wrong too. And I’ve been doing makeup for over 20 yrs. I just tried it again yesterday and I looked like a Hot Mess. I had to reapply with my brushes. But I can’t seem to get the application everyone’s talking about. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Reply ButtonReply

Dani

SAME! I can not get a good finish with it.

Reply ButtonReply

MzBev

I keep hoping Boxy will send us one of those silicone “sponges”. Granted, I haven’t been able to get into the beauty blenders, but I still want one of these. lol. This is a really nice box though!

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Like silicone appliers so much better than the sponges.

Reply ButtonReply

Rose

FYI you can buy silicone makeup sponges for $1 on the website Shop Miss A — no idea if the quality is comparable, but might be worth it to try it out!

Reply ButtonReply

Gray

I can vouch for the Shop Miss A sponges – they are legit. Comparable to PUR or Real Techniques, but like $1 + shipping. I love them!

Mandy G.

You can also buy a pack of 3-4 of either these silicone drop things or a sponge like the Beauty Blender at Amazon. I get a lot of my beauty tools there because of the price.
I just bought 2 16- piece set gorgeous mermaid or unicorn makeup brushes for next to nothing. I would not stress over one brush in a sub box for anything- because Amazon has fantastic brushes at great prices all the time. Just read the reviews first. : ).

Melissa

I have one up for swap 🙂 My name should link to my profile.

Reply ButtonReply

MzBev

I’ve been approved for the swap section but never actually used it yet. (I’ve done swaps on fb groups) Is the what you’re following list, showing your wants? I will look through there to see if I have any of it, if so!
