Akibento “Passion” Box February 2018 Review
This month's theme is "Passion". But as you'll see, these passions are a little different than the Valentine's vibes most other subscription boxes went with this February.
Akibento Monthly Pin - Estimated Value $1.00
Every Akibento box comes with a little 1-inch pin to suit the theme.
Exclusive Akibento T-Shirt - Estimated Value $25.00
I couldn't find this shirt on the Akibento online shop, but most of their tees range between $25.00-$30.00. I think this tee is inspired by Yuri!!! On Ice. I'm a big fan of figure skating, so the phenomenon of a figure skating anime delights me like nothing else. This comfy tee is just what this Olympics season calls for!
Yuri!!! on Ice Funko Pop Figurine - Retail Value $10.99
I am cracking up with giddiness over this adorable skating Funko figurine! I'm amassing quite a Funko collection thanks to this subscription, but this might be my favorite figurine yet. I love that they captured so many details in this little vinyl toy, from Yuri's action pose to his flowing locks!
Free! Iwatobi Swim Club Keychain
I couldn't find this keychain anywhere online, so I'm going to say it's a harder-to-find item! This plush jacket has a fuzzy feeling like a plush toy would. I think the design is really clever—I'm used to plush characters, but not plush outfits! The jacket is about 4 inches big, so it's sizable, too.
Haikyu Patch - Retail Value $4.00 (Found here for $2.92)
More sports! This time, the spotlight's on Haikyu, the volleyball anime! This little patch is about 2 inches big. I feel like it'd be an awesome addition to my gym bag!
Akibento Exclusive Haikyu Belt
Last but not least, there's a Haikyu belt! The material is a sleek, smooth weave that feels sturdy. I don't know if I'd wear this day-to-day, but I feel like it'd be perfect to wear to a watch party. I wish I had a friend who played volleyball—this would be awesome to wear to a game!
The Verdict: I liked this month's box! I thought it was cute that they turned the very Valentine's-esque theme of "passion" on its head with items all curated around the theme of sports. It was a ton of fun to get during Olympics season—especially the Yuri!!! on Ice goodies! I feel like anime fan items (the licensed ones in particular) are 1) tricky to find and 2) rather pricey. Getting 6 fun, unique collectibles for about $30.00 (an average of around $5.00 each) is a pretty good deal to me!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up by the 19th of this month to get the upcoming box!
Value Breakdown: This box cost me $29.95 (cost + shipping). I couldn't find retail values for all of the items, but what I could find or estimate added up to about $40.99.
