The Nina Garcia Quarterly subscription box sends out fashion and beauty items about once a quarter. (Quarterly's shipping schedule isn't always every 3 months.)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Nina Garcia for Quarterly

The Cost: $99 a box plus shipping

The Products: Items hand selected by Nina Garcia!

Ships to: Everywhere (US $8, Canada $30; rest of world +$40)

Check out all of our Nina Garcia Quarterly Box reviews and the Women’s Subscription Box Directory!

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator describing the theme for that quarter, and background on every item they selected.

For this box, Nina focused on items perfect for a Summer look!

Now, onto the items!

Ellen & James Round Basket Bag – $75

This is hands down one of the nicest items I've ever received in a subscription box - I am so impressed with the quality, and I've been wanting a basket bag, too!

This purse measures 7.5 inches across and 2.5 inches in width. And it's lined with a beautiful fabric:

And bonus points for this bag having a smokey scent! (It smells SO good!)

The material Ata is a reed, making the material strong and durable. The pieces are all “smoked” over coconut husks as part of the drying process, which adds beautiful patina and leaves the bag with a slight natural scent that disappears over time.

Donni Charm Gigi Seersucker Skinny Scarf – $57

Luckily for me, this scarf comes with cute illustrations for how to style it!

It measures 36" x 3 1/2" and is 100% cotton.

Honestly, I don't think I'm stylish enough to pull this off, but here I am doing my best:

I tried it as a wrist cuff too, but again, I don't think I'm pulling off the look:

This very well may be a new fashion accessory for my dog Buckles and I am 100% OK with that.

SOKO Earrings – Value $58?

(Styles will vary. See different designs subscribers received here.)

I couldn't find this exact style on the SOKO website, but I got the price from a similar style.

These delicate earrings are about 2 inches in diameter and a threader style - they are open-ended and you thread them through your earlobe.

SUPERGOOP! Everyday Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 1oz – $10

This sunscreen is SPF 50, oil-free, goes on white, and absorbs almost instantly - no greasy feel!

Lipstick from Lipstick Queen in Frog Prince – $25

Don't worry - this isn't a green lipstick! Lipstick Queen formulas actually change colors when they are on your lips. Here is this color swatched:

It goes on sheer, provides a wash of cool pink color, and lots of moisture and shine, too.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $225. I think that's great for a $107 box, especially for a Quarterly box. I really love this box - the purse is such a win for me! And everything feels seasonally appropriate for Summer, too. This is what I expect from a box from Nina Garcia - new brand discoveries, on-trend fashion and accessories, and some items that push me out of my comfort zone.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? There may be some boxes still available. I recommend emailing [email protected] to secure a box.

Has everyone received their box? They charged me on 7/18/18, but I’ve yet to even receive a tracking number. I have emailed them 5 times over the last two weeks and received no response. There doesn’t seem to be any other way to get a hold of them. I a little miffed.

I had canceled the subscription before it shipped. The box showed up and I returned it unopened. Tried to get them to respond for months and now they don’t exist. I guess they weren’t talking about me when they posted that refunds had been issued. meh…

Yikes. I ordered one too and never received it, and I just send an email and got the following response: “As of August 30, 2018, Quarterly, Inc. and all of its e-commerce stores and operations have been shut down and dissolved. No future customer orders will be taken, no existing customers will be charged, and all outstanding pre-orders (“gifts and gift cards”) have been refunded.”

I would call your credit card company! I’m super bummed I didn’t get this box but they never charged my cc.

I wish people were more responsible and only started a subscription box business after doing some research, preparing a good business case and having the right finances. I have not been a subscriber of this box but lots of people must be feeling disappointed right now -and even some might have been charged money- and it is not cool at all. It is also shocking they are not even answering emails from their customers.

This box is currently on sale on Quarterly’s website! I bought it for $84 plus $6 shipping! Totally worth it because I had planned to buy the purse anyway and it’s $75 alone.

How do “open ended” earrings not fall out and get lost?

If you haven’t worn your purse yet, note that it WILL snag fabric. I ruined a nice top. But I also tied a knot to make the strap shorter–don’t do that!

The review with the pics of the items on sold me. I hate my neck and wear a lot of scarves, but for the summer heat this one is perfect. It adds style. I love the purse when u just need to bring the essentials and the lip item reminds me of one of my favorites (sugar fib from fresh). I can always use sunscreen since I spend a lot of time in the car commuting. Good mix of things.

I guess I am the only one who thought of Golden Girls when I saw the purse lol 🙂 . Interesting on the small size of the sunscreen…..more of a sample. And the “scarf”, oh boy that is one expensive strip of fabric!

Sara

Wow I guess I’m the only one who thinks this box is super overpriced. $57 for a tiny piece of fabric?? Sorry but that’s a lot for a “scarf”; it’s cute, but not that cute.

I think you’re rocking the scarf as a wrist cuff! I think I’ll try that for that symbology scarf I have from forever ago that I can’t figure out what to do with.

Liz Cadman

That’s great to hear! And the good news is it’s pretty easy to style on your wrist compared to a headband for example.

Hi Liz, off topic, but what is that cute white top you’re wearing? I’d love to get one too if it’s not too pricey. 🙂

Thanks! It’s from my recent Stitch Fix review! https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2018/07/stitch-fix-review-what-to-expect-with-your-first-box.html

If you sign up for Stitch Fix, I believe you should be able to request that top from your stylist. Hope that helps! 🙂

When I first started learning about sub boxes, this was the one I wanted the most. I loved all the Quarterly boxes. It is so interesting to see which box companies have made it, or how they changed their model. Sometimes I get wistful thinking about how excited I was about the contents of most any sub box. Now it seems, that it takes a lot for me to be impressed. Anyone else feel that way?

That purse is super cute!

Thought the basket bag was gorgeous until I read on the Ellen & James website that the strap is made of leather 🙁
Can’t subscribe to a box which includes products which involve cruelty towards animals.

Debbie

I agree. I was going to order this box as well until I checked the Ellen & James site and found he strap is leather. Big disappointment. I love the design but not enough to contribute to animal cruelty.

Alex

Oh I love this box! The earrings and purse are so cute!

Reply ButtonReply

Susan

Those earrings are huge. I thought they were bracelets.

Lauren

I like the purse but I figured NG would’ve learned her lesson about overvalued scraps of fabric after the Tome incident. Maybe I’m cheap but I wouldn’t pay more than 10$ for those earrings IRL either.

The box feels really light for 107$ esp when you compare to BoS.

This box might work if they shipped it in April. Even if I was tempted I wouldn’t order now. The bag is stunning though.

Kc

I got this but between tax and shipping it was $115. They should offer a first time subscriber deal since I’ll likeky cancel after this one box.

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

I think that’s a big reason why the wouldn’t offer a first time subscriber deal, as they want people to continue subscribing rather than getting the first box discount and canceling right after.

Reply ButtonReply

Kris

That purse looks really nice! I’ve been eyeing the basket purse trend as well and I think that it might be time to purchase one….

Any coupons?

Liz Cadman

Sorry Quarterly/Nina don’t usually do any coupons.

Cyndi

Liz, yes! Buckles will look darling wearing that scarf. Post pics when he’s wearing it.

Beth

Yes, yes, yes!!

When I saw the spoiler I completely thought the lipstick was green lol

Jackie

I’m not usually into NG boxes, but this one looks great! The purse is very cute, and I feel like the other stuff is very summery and fun.
