Check out all of my FabFitFun VIP Box reviews and the Women’s Subscription Box Directory!

FabFitFun sends out a mini mag in each box. It details the items included and also provides background on some of the featured makers and designers.

This page shows all the different items that are available for customization and the items that all subscribers will receive.

And the magazine features content besides the items in the box, too. For example, this season they included a checklist for 50 ways to show gratitude, and there is a horoscope section:

Now, time for the items!

I'm going to start with the items that all subscribers will receive:

Mark & Graham Colorblock Throw – Retail Value $49

All subscribers receive this item. Annual subscribers get to pick their color. Either this beige shade or a grey shade.)

If you aren’t familiar with Mark & Graham, it’s a Williams-Sonoma brand that specializes in gifts and monograms!

This blanket measures 50”w x 60”h. Here I am holding it up to give you a better sense of scale:

The material is 100% acrylic and super soft! I've had it wrapped around my shoulders as I wrote this entire review. Kind of like this picture:

But without Buckles in my arms the whole time. 🙂

It's a lovely accent throw, too. I love the fringe and the neutral colors, and I'm trying to add more warm and cozy accents to our grey living room, so this is perfect.

AHAVA Hydration Cream Mask – Retail Value $33

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

I love a quick mask, and this one works in 3 minutes! (Alternatively, you can use it as an overnight sleeping mask, so no worries if you accidentally leave it on for more than 3 minutes.)

For a true test of this mask, I applied it to only half of my face post-shower (when my skin is at its driest). The results? I only have good things to say about this mask. I could tell an immediate difference in hydration and softness in my skin after I removed the mask, and it stayed that ways hours later! (It's a light hydration, too. No greasy finish.) I also was happy to note that this face mask formula is lightly scented compared to Ahava's hand creams.

Blaq Eye Mask (5 masks) – Retail Value $29

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

These eye masks are formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Activated Charcoal. They're designed to help de-puff eyes. I've tried a lot of eye gels in my subscription box review days, and some of the gel ones don't stay put, but these remained in place for the full 15 minutes. Personally, I don't have under-eye puffiness (just super dark undereye circles), so I couldn't notice a difference after using them, but I'm guessing they could be a gamechanger if you wake up with puffy eyes!

Thrive Causemetics Eye Brightener Highlighting Stick – Retail Value $24

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

I’ve sampled this line before, and I’m so impressed with their formulas. This creamy eye crayon is vegan + cruelty-free; paraben, sulfate, + latex + petrochemical-free.

And good to know, the bottom part is a built-in sharpener:

Popsugar-must-have-march-2017-0027

Here it is swatched:

It’s a subtle highlighter on my skin tone, which is great for me because I can use it for every day, less-makeup looks. The formula has almost a powdery finish, but it’s still really easy to blend.

You can use this as an upper or lower eyeliner, applied to the brow bone, lids and even the inner corners of your eyes to make them appear larger.

Next up, here are three products I selected for my box. All subscribers get to make the selections of their choice!

Bearpaw Headband and Pop-Top Glove Duo - Retail Value $45

(All subscribers can pick this set or the Moroccan Gold Series Treatment Mask.)

I have a few pairs of super cozy Bearpaw slippers, so when I saw the brand would be featured in the Winter FabFitFun box, it was a super easy decision to pick this set!

And that faux sherpa lining on the headband is just as cozy and warm as it looks!

The fingerless gloves have button backed mitten covers for when it gets extra chilly, too:

Here is the headband on:

(For reference, my head is too big for some hats, but I still got this to fit. It's a snug fit - but it fits!) And here are the gloves on:

Richer Poorer Over The Knee Socks - Retail Value $24

(All subscribers can pick these socks or Sherrie Matthews Jade Roller OR PUR Eyeshadow Palette.)

Can you tell I was cold when I made my box selections? I made this box as cozy as I could!

These grey socks are made from recycled yarn (55% polyester, 40% cotton, and 5% spandex.)

They're soft, stretchy, and stayed up all day long without feeling too tight on my calves. I love these for wearing around the house with pjs or cuffed over boots.

(I think the over the boot cuff look is great too if the socks otherwise might be a bit too tight on your legs.)

Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo - Retail Value $44

(All subscribers can pick this or H Halston Jewelry Portfolio OR Lele Sadoughi Necklace.)

I was SO excited to see full-size Oribe in this box! It alone covers almost the entire cost of the box! (And full-size Oribe in the subscription box world is rare!) Oribe is such a luxe haircare treat - when my husband Eric got his first Oribe sample in a subscription box recently, I half-joked with him that he now got to experience rich person hair! 🙂

Anyway - let's talk formula. This dry shampoo is an ultra fine mist that goes on clear. (No worries about a white finish that you need to brush in.) It absorbs oil and freshens hair without adding any texture. (This is pretty rare in the dry shampoo world - usually most formulas add a little grit.) And of course, there's the Oribe scent - it's amazing! If you want to freshen up your hair without adding texture - this is perfect.

Next up, here are two products I selected as an annual subscriber. If you are a quarterly subscriber, FabFitFun will make the selection for you:

Chic & Tonic Coasters - Retail Value $18

(All subscribers will get these or Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lips OR Brooke Burke Body Sliders. Annual subscribers get to pick their item.)

When selecting my items for this box, I was going for a cozy theme, and I think these urban rustic coasters are a perfect addition - especially when you add a warm cup of tea!

They are raw cut and lightly sanded:

One thing to note - you may want to add adhesive felt/plastic/cork dots to the undersides of these coasters depending on what surfaces you plan to use them on.

Anthropologie Mer Sea Beauty Coconut Sugar Sea Whip Body Cream - Retail Value $24

(All subscribers will get this or Way of Will Essential Oils. Annual subscribers get to pick their item.)

Confession - I picked this at first just because of the packaging! It's holographic and feels so perfect for winter! And fortunately, the lotion inside is just as good as the packaging. It's a lightweight formula that absorbs almost instantly (no greasy feel whatsoever), and the coconut sugar scent it fragrant and sweet. (If you aren't a big fan of fragrances though, I would avoid this selection as the scent lingers.)

Verdict: This box has a value of $290! I think that's amazing for $49.99! (And this is actually the lowest-value option of the box. Depending on your selections, the value could be as high as $335.) At $49.99 for this box, that works out to $5.55 an item - so impressive!

Now that FabFitFun is offering more customization in items than ever before, I think it's kind of on the subscriber to make the box feel curated. I went with a cozy curation theme, and I'm very happy with the results!

FYI - since there were SO many box customization options this season, I'll be doing a second post reviewing the other options. Look for that soon!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? As of today, 11/14, yes! (You'll be able to make your product selections after you sign up. The wooden coasters may be sold out.)

CouponUse coupon code MSA10 to get this box for only $39.99!

I reopened my account to check out the context of the box and the next thing I knew there was a box on it’s way. So not happy they shipped a box without authorization. Now I’m trying to close my account so this doesn’t happen again and I don’t find where I can.

did anyone not get an item for the choice between lipstick, coasters, or sliders? I emailed in saying this item was missing and they responded with this:

Choice Items: (Seasonal Members)
1. Moroccan Treatment Mask
2. Oribe Dry Shampoo
3. Sherrie Matthews Jade Roller

Randomly picked by our team: (Annual Members)
4. Double Knit Throw (Taupe)
5. Mystery Item
6. Will of Way Essential Oil set

Present in all boxes:
-Brilliant Eye Brightener in Stella
-Blaq Hydrogel Eye Mask
-AHAVA Hydration Cream Mask

What do they mean by “mystery item” then?

I got the tarte rainbow highlighter but it was all broken up. Still no response from customer service

Well, I’m having bad luck with subscription box jewelry. First a necklace from Popsugar Neiman Marcus Bag broke within hours and then the earrings from FabFitFun arrived broken! Thank goodness I looked at them because I was planning on giving them as a gift and I would have been very embarrassed. I’m guessing the jewelry companies make cheapos for subscription boxes?

Otherwise I’m really happy with this box!

Robyn

I got tarte rainbow highlighter as my mystery item. I think I like it but it came completely broken up. So annoying.

I’m tempted…but I haven’t even received my box yet. It was supposed to be here on the 10th, but I guess bad weather had held it up (and I have three swappers waiting for items). Fingers crossed for my original order.

More Buckles!!! Also I freakin’ love the boots you’re wearing with the boot cuff things. SO CUTE.

Allison

Where did you get your black heeled boots from?? (the ones in the pic with your dog)

Ordered this with the Better Than Black Friday deal. Received my box today, but I didn’t receive anything from the coasters/lipstick/sliders option. I knew I wouldn’t get the coasters, but would have been OK with either the lipstick or sliders. I contacted FFF through the chat this evening and turns out I was sent a mystery option of a second Kate Somerville, instead of lipstick or sliders. CS said they will send me the sliders. CS is also looking into my add on of the rose gold jewelry holder. The one I received is definitely gold in color, not rose or pink at all. I wanted it as a gift for a friend whose signature color is pink. Will update as to whether CS follows through.

I entered the contest, but probably won’t give subscriptions to gift boxes as gifts, this year! Too hard to pick!

I got my box and I am so pleased! My surprise item was the Dr. Brandt DNA moisturizer which retails really high! I had bought the eye cream as an add-on previously and I looove it so it was just the perfect surprise.

The other items were great. The throw wasn’t my favorite but I put it inside my cats teepee and it looks cute and he likes it! My skin always needs a hydration boost and I love that the mask is only three minutes. At first, I wasn’t thrilled about the essential oils but it says what to use them for and I think they will come in handy.

I wasn’t sure about this box but getting everything, it may be one of my favorite ones!

If I could give negative stars in a five point scale, I would give FFF a negative five star because that is how terrible the experience has become with them. I never comment or write reviews but I would love to save someone the frustrations & waste of money I have experienced with FFF. Please be smarter than me and don’t waste your money or time with FFF. I have been with FFF for 9 seasons & all the in between sales…. EVERY single time there have been damage and missing items, and every single time the customer service has been severely lacking – I am still waiting for them to fix damaged goods from the summer & fall boxes if that helps paint the picture of just how pathetic the customer service is with FFF. They recently reached a milestone of 1 million subscribers but at the expense of all of their subscribers- their customer service has never been worse, their shipping times increased significantly, their is a huge quality issue and packing of boxes issue, and I have had more than 10 items missing from my box that was more than a month later arriving, and many damaged goods. I am done with FFF, and officially broke up with them. Please do yourself a favor and save yourself the frustration; Honestly, theris is nothing they have ever offered that is not widely available. Best of luck.

Is anyone interested in swapping their grey throw for my beige one? I was super busy and forgot to customize my box…

I would love to swap the PUR palette for the socks too, if anyone is interested.

Reply ButtonReply

Mary

I meant to say I have the palette and would like the socks instead.

Just received my box today. Everything was nice, with the exception of the dollar store “exercise disks” – aka blue frisbees. I don’t know what I will do with those.

Has anyone used the brightening serum? It leaves an orange hue if you can’t rub it in well enough. And the smell…it does the same thing to my stomach that tequila does when I smell it. Did I get a bad one? Or are they all like that?

Reply ButtonReply

Stef

Yeah which brightning serum was this? Had to be an add on?

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

Was that an add-on item? I don’t see that in my FFF box.

I had skipped this box, then they send me a shipping notice.
Charlie Brown “Ugh!”

Liz, I love the bedding shown with the throw!
Would you happen to have the 411 on it?

I still haven’t received my winter box. Is anyone else waiting on theirs too ? I got my tracking and it’s been the slowest ever. I’m in FL and my last boxes I’ve received in about a week from when I get my tracking info. I received my tracking # 11/25 and it actually started moving 11/27 and I am scheduled to receive it 12/12. Oh well I’m away for work this week so it will be nice to come home to FFF, Birchbox and Pusheen boxes 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Pamela

I’m not waiting anymore, but I did just get it today. It seemed to take a while since they sent the tracking for me also.

Reply ButtonReply

Jamie

I got the grey blanket, bear paw set, Lele necklace, pur eyeshadow palette, way of will oils. Pretty happy.

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

I have not received my winter box yet but have been billed for it. Can you please tell me when it may arrive?

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

Not sure MSA can tell you. You are better off going to their site and online chatting with them about it.

Reply ButtonReply

Betty

Did anyone happen to get an extra “find you cozy tote” I would love to buy it.

Reply ButtonReply

socaldeb

Got mine today! All is in order. I like the soft lightweight blanket, and got the essential oils as I was hoping. Of the lipstick/coaster/slider options I got the lipstick, which I’ll be happy to swap for something (doesn’t have to be from this box) if anyone had her eye on it.

Reply ButtonReply

Shelby

Has anyone else ever had problems with missing add-ons? Was the problem resolved quickly?

Reply ButtonReply

Lola

My box just finally shipped and I can view the reveal. It’s showibg the beige blanket in the reveal- just wondering if that means I’m getting beige or is that just the image they use? Hoping for gray.

Reply ButtonReply

Lindsay

How do you find the reveal? Just got tracking, am curious. Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Lindsay

FOUND IT NEVER MIND! For those curious, go to “my box” on the top right.

socaldeb

Mine shows the gray, and I got the gray.

Reply ButtonReply

Courtney S.

What did anyone get in their Mystery bundle add-on? I received a tweezer set, tarte highlighter stick, lavender sugar scrub, and Cover Fx primer. Pretty happy with it, first one I ever bought 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

My mystery bundle was the Murad eye brightening cream, moroccan style shampoo/conditioner set (smaller sized), Tazeka meditation oil roll-on, and some men’s socks. I felt like it was an ok bundle – but nothing I would have added on and the men’s socks are disappointing since they definitely won’t fit me.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

My box still hasn’t shipped. I am not happy about this! I usually get a notification about a week after I’m billed. Why is there so much of a delay for some boxes?

Reply ButtonReply

Shelby

Mine hasn’t shipped either! It’s usually shipped a week after billing (and I have ads ons, which I thought meant my order would be shipped in first round). 😕

Reply ButtonReply

Mel

I just got my box yesterday.

*The blanket is thin, but warm. It has a little smell that needs to air out, but I’m actually pretty happy with it.
* The Bear Paw stuff is great, and I’m sad I forgot them on the counter today, because it’s always cold in my office. The gloves will come in handy.
* Oribe is amazing.
* Socks are going to my daughter for Christmas because I have giant feet and they won’t fit right.
* The Bite lipstick was a happy surprise. I didn’t think I would like the color, but it looks good and the lipstick has a sweet citrus flavor.
* The essential oils are possibly going to my daughter for Christmas, but I might keep them for myself and get a diffuser for my desk.
* The brightening stick is amazing
* Haven’t used the eye masks yet because I have a ton already
* The Avaha mask is AMAZING. I put a little on my hand last night and it’s noticeably softer and moisturized

I was second guessing this box, but am super happy with it.
