Trunk Club Plus Clothing October 2018 Review

Trunk Club October 2018 - Booklet Front 1

So first, a little more about how Trunk Club works. When I signed up, I took a pretty lengthy style questionnaire online. Then I was matched with a stylist who asked me even more about what I like and what I was looking for via an online chat. Based on this information, she selected several items for me to try on at home. She then sent me a link to preview all my items! There is also an option to allow your stylist to send a few surprise pieces.

This packet was included in my trunk.

Trunk Club October 2018 - Booklet Front 2

The front of the enclosed booklet now has instructions!

Trunk Club October 2018 - Booklet Front 3

Inside is a note from my stylist, Sydney. It explains why she chose this month's pieces for me and gives a bit of styling advice. I like how accessible my stylist is.

Trunk Club October 2018 - Booklet Front 4

This is my invoice. It lists the items I was sent and the cost to keep each item. My $25 styling fee will be deducted from anything I decide to keep.

Trunk Club October 2018 - Booklet Front 5

These items were also in the packet. When I've finished repackaging the items I don't want to keep in the box, I just put this return label on it and use the tape straps to tape it back up! So convenient!

Foldover Crossbody Bag by BP - Cost to keep $39 (found here for $29.90!)

Oddly, they seem to only have this bag in black at nordstrom.com, but nonetheless, it is on sale! This is pretty good for a faux leather bag. I like the tassels and the abundance of zippers! I already bought a bag this color for fall, but the price point is so low I think I might need to get another!

Trunk Club October 2018 - Lucky 1

Border Print Cinched Sleeve Cotton Blend Top by Lucky Brand - Cost to keep $59.50

Not surprisingly, this blouse from Lucky Brand is my favorite piece in the box this month! I love the tie/tassels at the notched neckline, and the colors and print are just wonderful. This is perfect for fall and totally my style!

Alexa Ankle Pants by Michel Studio - Cost to keep $69

These pants are really more like leggings, but they are really cute anyway! I like the zipper detail a lot. They are a polyester blend, but they don't really have much compression, which is I guesss to be expected since they are pants and not leggings. I like the seams running down the front.

Here are close-ups of the sleeves and pants:

Trunk Club October 2018 - Denium Front

Denim Work Shirt by Sanctuary - Cost to keep $89

This shirt is awesome! It's really soft and thick enough to provide some warmth. I think this might also work as an alternative to a denim jacket when I don't want to wear something that thick. I like it!

Trunk Club October 2018 - Cardigan Front 1

Braided Shoulder Cardigan by Caslon - Cost to keep $79

I am actually in the market for a natural colored cardigan, so I asked my stylist to send one over. She sent two, which is awesome! This is my favorite of the two, but I don't know if I love it or not. I actually really like the style and the weave pattern a lot! The only thing I don't like about it is that it's 100% acrylic. I just have never liked acrylic sweaters. Maybe because they're itchy.

Trunk Club October 2018 - Velvet Front

Holly Stretch Velvet Tee by Sanctuary - Cost to keep $69

This velvet tee is just perfect! I love it! This is a polyester velvet with just a hint of spandex so that it stretches in all the right places. I love that it's such a deep black, too. This will be perfect for so many occasions during the holiday season.

Plaid Crop Pants by BP - Cost to keep $59

These pants are actually a lot cuter than I thought they would be, but when I pulled them out of the box I thought they looked a wee bit whimsical for my tastes. I still kind of think so. I think the thing that pushes them a little out of the realm of possibility is that they are both wool-ish and cropped. They're not really wool, they are a poly blend, but they definitely have a woolen look and feel. I wish they were just regular length. Of course, for me, that would mean I would need to hem them, but I would prefer that to cropped woolen pants. They just kind of don't make sense to me, I guess.

Trunk Club October 2018 - Cardigan Front 2

Stitch Curve Hem Cardigan by BP - Cost to keep $49

This cardigan was a miss for me for a couple of reasons. Although I like that it is 100% cotton, the curved hem cardigan is really unflattering on me. Additionally, it is too big for me. I felt a little swallowed. I guess I'll have to keep looking for the perfect cardigan!

The Verdict: I am a big fan of Trunk Club! This month was a mixture of hits and misses, which is typically true, but there were some really good pieces in the hits pile! I really love the velvet tee and the Lucky top. I think Trunk Club is a little on the spendy side, but it's still loads of fun to try all the pieces!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Trunk Club curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $25 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the 8 items inside is $512.50. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep anything, the $25 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase. That’s an average $64.06 an item, which is on par with the brands included.

What do you think of Trunk Club? What pieces did you get?

I’m 5’2 and a big fan of cropped pants, especially the “slight crop” length that has been showing up. A slight crop that is made for an “average” size pretty much fits me like a full length pant! I’m sorry you didn’t like the plaid pants- that was my favorite piece on you!

I am 5’4” and cropped pants can be a challenge. They sit at that awkward length on me and they appear to be highwaters. Occasionally the cropped pants will fall as regular length pants will on taller humans and it is a win. I have a pair of tailored crop pants that are a good length for summer, a few inches above the ankle, and in the winter I wear boots over them and voila … long pants.

Nice review. I really like a lot of the clothes they picked for you. That print shirt looks great on you and the velvet tee is a keeper too! I love that purse. Great lining inside.

The cropped length of those plaid pants it actually the perfect regular length on you. While I agree they are not the cutest perhaps you should ask for more pants in a cropped length. (I tend to buy cropped pants to avoid hemming and they always fall below my ankles.) I really like the black velvet top it was my favorite on you. Great review!
