Fandom of the Month Club January 2019 Review
This box’s theme is Harry Potter, and more specifically Dolores Umbridge! Inside the box is a pretty card that has all of the social media details for the Fandom of the Month Club
Each month a small cotton bag is included to hold your accessories. This month, a nod to a cross-stitched doily is printed on the bag, with the mantra “I will have order” and a few cats – Do’s favorite animal.
Dolores Umbridge Enamel Pin
I always think it’s fun to get a custom enamel pin in a subscription box, especially a geek one! This little lady is a clear depiction of Dolores and I think that any HP fan would be excited to get her!
Crazy Cat Lady Dangle Earrings
These earrings are around 3" long, lightweight, and feature 3 cats. They're plastic and appear to be on surgical steel backs. I can't imagine wearing these, except for a joke or for Halloween – but maybe I'm not a big enough fan of Dolores (or cats!)
Dolores Umbridge Themed Charm Bracelet
I think that this is a much more usable accessory – and is even kind of cute in a tacky way. Featuring a few different enamel charms (a cat, a pink crystal, a DU image, a bow, and a teapot) it's the kind of quirky piece that you could lay with some other bangles for fun and subtle nod to Potterworld. I also like that this bangle is easily adjustable, simply by reshaping the thin metal bracelet. It would fit most wrist sizes.
Educational Decree Number Thirty-One Necklace
The last item in this box is an 18” necklace featuring a 2” “proclamation”. This was one of the degrees created by Dolores, forbidding male and female students from being within 8 inches of each other.
Verdict: This was a fun Fandom of the Month Club assortment this month. I feel like, in geek subscriptions, Harry Potter is often done – but I rarely see a whole box curated around a single, specific character. For $13 + shipping, you receive 5 accessories. I think that's a great value!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Fandom of the Month is taking orders now for their February box.
Value Breakdown: This box cost me $13.00 + $3.75 shipping, which means that each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $3.35.
