Snack Crate "Switzerland" Review
This box always greets you with a colorful booklet and talks you through every snack to be found in the subscription (at all levels)! This month’s box theme is Switzerland, and to be honest, I don’t know much about their snacks, so I’m excited to learn what’s in store!
There’s also an awesome bonus in each box: stickers! The stickers are always a hoot, and this month, I cracked up over the cheese wheel being cut.
Zweifel Paprika Chips
When it comes to chips, I like them really crunchy and super-savory - just like these! I really enjoyed the paprika flavor; to me, they tasted like smoked paprika and had a wonderfully umami-forward flavor. What I liked best about these and that they weren’t too salty - just flavorful.
Zweifel Snacketti Dancer Cream
I thought it was neat that the box included two different snacks from the same brand! These were a different shape and texture than the chips, more of a puffed corn snack in the shape of dancers. This is supposed to be cream flavored, but they were also savory to me; almost like the mildest, most non-spicy mustard I’ve ever had.
Sugus Fruit Chews
I’m not usually a huge fruit candy kind of person, but these were really good! Sometimes when my throat is dry I like having candy in my desk drawer, and these juicy, chewy guys were good - kind of like chubby, more-tart Starbursts.
Milka Cake and Choc
I couldn’t believe how moist this little cake was! It had a nice texture and flavor that reminded me very much of pancakes, and the liquid chocolate center had a taste that was a lot like the flavor of Tootsie Rolls! I usually enjoy treats like this with coffee, but I decided to brew a cup of chocolate chai tea to go with this and it was the perfect pairing.
Sadex Brause-Stabchen
This snack is the perfect example of something that’s well-made - just not to my taste! As I mentioned, I’m not a huge fruit candy kind of person, and these reminded me a lot of those candy sticks that you dip in the flavored sugar. I enjoyed the tartness of the lemon flavored one, but these were definitely something my husband enjoyed more than I did!
Munz Prugeli Weiss
This is definitely one of the better chocolate bars I’ve had in a long time! I really love white chocolate (see bonus snacks description), and the inner milk chocolate filling was smooth and full of hazelnut flavor. I didn’t detect as much of the praline elements that was described in the brochure, but it was so good I had to make sure I didn’t eat the entire thing in one sitting!
Bonus Snacks: Toblerone in White, Milke, and Dark Chocolate
Fun fact: my best friend’s favorite chocolate bar is Toblerone! Sadly, she couldn’t get anywhere near these almond, honey, and nougat goodies because my husband and I demolished them pretty much instantly. We both liked the dark chocolate one but agreed it was pretty intensely chocolatey, and we retreated to our usual favored chocolate corners; milk chocolate for him, and white chocolate for me!
Verdict: Switzerland offered a great deal of snacking goodies this month! I thought the balance was pretty good between sweet and savory, and the sweet snacks varied widely from each other, which was neat. The hazelnut chocolate bar was absolutely amazing, I really liked the paprika chips, and I’m not even a little sorry about how fast we destroyed the Toblerone! I always look forward to this box to up my snacking game.
