Trunk Club is a clothing styling service for both men and women. Subscribers work closely with their stylist to find a selection of pieces to try on at home, and they receive a trunk shortly thereafter. Trunks can be ordered as often as you like, so you can try it once, or have a trunk sent to you quarterly or monthly. Or even more frequently!
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
About Trunk Club
The Subscription Box: Trunk Club
The Cost: $25 styling fee, credited towards any items you choose to keep, plus the cost of whatever you keep
The Products: 6-12 clothing items hand-selected by a stylist for you to try on at home

Good to Know: Trunk Club does price matching against Nordstrom items. In other words, if it's on sale on Nordstrom.com, they will give you that sale price as it is a Nordstrom company.
Trunk Club Plus Clothing February 2019 Review
So first, a little more about how Trunk Club works. When I signed up, I took a pretty lengthy style questionnaire online. Then I was matched with a stylist who asked me even more about what I like and what I was looking for via an online chat. Based on this information, she selected several items for me to try on at home. She then sent me a link to preview all my items! There is also an option to allow your stylist to send a few surprise pieces.
This packet was included in my trunk.
The front of the enclosed booklet now has instructions!
Inside is a note from my stylist, Sydney. It explains why she chose this month's pieces for me and gives a bit of styling advice. I like how accessible my stylist is.
This is my invoice. It lists the items I was sent and the cost to keep each item. My $25 styling fee will be deducted from anything I decide to keep.
These items were also in the packet. When I've finished repackaging the items I don't want to keep in the box, I just put this return label on it and use the tape straps to tape it back up! So convenient!
Laguna Partial Hoop Earrings by 8 Other Reasons - Cost to keep $43 (Not currently available on Nordstrom.com)
These earrings are SO different! That's the main thing I like about them - I don't have anything like these! I really like the unusual mottled colors. I can't tell what they are made of, but I am guessing the discs are made from some kind of shell.
Higher Power Mid-Thigh Shaping Shorts by Spanx - Cost to keep $38
I didn't want to open these because I don't have a need for them, and I certainly was not going to model them, haha! Having said that, I love Spanx, and that is my go-to brand for shapewear. These shorts are black and high-waisted, with about an eight-inch inseam.
Rustic Fringe Tweed Jacket by 1.State - Cost to keep $159
I actually got a jacket very similar to this one from Trunk Club a few months ago. 1.State basically has two variations on the same tweed jacket, and now I have tried them both! I think I preferred the previous one, but I did not end up keeping it. This is a really cool take on the office jacket, as it has lots of funky fringe and a cool pattern. The other style has a collar, which I liked better, but the collarless look is cool too. I like it a lot, but I don't have much need for this type of garment at the moment.
Ankle Pants by Vince Camuto - Cost to keep $89
These polyester / elastane pants are really comfortable, and they are a good length for me. They also feel pretty high quality, so they are probably worth the price. The picture above shows the fabric up close, but you can see me wearing them in the picture with the tweed jacket. I like these a lot, but I am not really in the market for black pants right now.
Knit Moto Jacket by Caslon - Cost to keep $69
I don't know if I have ever seen a knit moto jacket, but I like it! It is super comfortable, and thick enough to also be really warm. It is a 60-40 cotton/poly knit blend with a bit of a texture. Navy is not my favorite color, but I think I might have to keep this anyway! It's really cute and unusual!
Side Tie Top by Halogen - Cost to keep $69
I don't know how, but somehow this top has a different style than the one on the Nordstrom website of the same name, brand, price, and print. The one on the website has a tie at the bottom of the top on the side. This one has more of a belt. In any case, this polyester top is really nice quality. The cut is not my favorite, and I don't like the print. I think it will have to go back.
Good Legs High Waist Skinny Jeans - Cost to keep $179
These jeans are wild! The picture above is a close-up of the fabric, which looks kind of blue but is really super black. You can see me wearing them in the photo above with the side tie blouse. They have a coating which makes them appear leather-like, which, to be honest, is a little outside of my comfort zone. They are flattering and even a little bit slimming, but they are also really expensive! I think these have to go back also.
I wanted to stop here and point out that the rest of the review features dresses. One nice thing about Trunk Club is that you can speak with your stylist and request a certain type of item in your next box. Their inventory is not exactly the same as what they have at Nordstrom.com, so you can't request a specific item and definitely receive it, but you can ask for general items. In this case, I requested a teal dress for Easter.
Cold Shoulder Chiffon Overlay Cocktail Shift Dress by Xscape - Cost to keep $218 (currently on sale here for $130.80)
There's no doubting the quality of this polyester chiffon dress; it is very well made. The beading is perfect, and the gunmetal beads themselves are beautiful. It is also double lined, which is unusual. Having said that, I feel like someone who is playing superhero dress-up in this dress. I would never wear this. I know there is someone out there who could pull this look off, but it is not me! It also is not teal.
MJ Placement Print Sheath dress by Maggy London - Cost to keep $138
This poly/spandex dress is beautiful! I think the pattern is gorgeous (even if it is only partially teal). It is partially lined and a little bit body conscious. My husband really liked it! The only thing I didn't love was the neckline. I am still thinking about this one...
Smocked Shoulder Wrap Dress by Eliza J - Cost to keep $148 (currently on sale here for $88.80)
This gorgeous polyester blend dress is also not teal, but I don't even care! It is so beautiful! And to be fair, it looks closer to teal on the website than in real life. I would call this an emerald green, I guess. In any case, it is really high quality and very flattering. It is a paritally lined, true wrap dress. It's not going to be my Easter dress, but since it is on sale, I might have to keep it anyway!
Metal Bar Tunic by City Chic - Cost to keep $79
I love the electric blue color of this pretty tunic dress! It's not teal, but it sure is vibrant! I also really like the V in the back. This is a fully lined polyester chiffon. It looks cute on, too! I just don't have any need for it right now.
Blue Bell Dress by City Chic - Cost to keep $99
This is a really lovely, high quality, fully lined polyester wrap dress in a navy blue gingham. I really like the style, but the execution is not great, at least on me. The top was trying to fall open the whole time I was wearing it. It's also not teal.
The Verdict: I am a big fan of Trunk Club! Having said that, I was really surprised that I did not receive one true teal dress. Do they not make them any more? I didn't feel like it was that big of an ask. I did get several pretty dresses to try, though, which was fun. My favorite pieces this month were the green dress and the moto jacket. Trunk Club is a little on the spendy side, but it's still loads of fun to try all the pieces!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Trunk Club curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: This box cost $25 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the 12 items inside is $1328 (unusually high because of all the dresses). The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep anything, the $25 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase. Thats an average of $110.67 per item, which is on par with the brands included.
