Trunk Club Plus Clothing May 2019 Review

Trunk Club May 2019 - Booklet 1

So first, a little more about how Trunk Club works. When I signed up, I took a pretty lengthy style questionnaire online. Then I was matched with a stylist who asked me even more about what I like and what I was looking for via an online chat. Based on this information, she selected several items for me to try on at home. She then sent me a link to preview all my items! There is also an option to allow your stylist to send a few surprise pieces.

This packet was included in my trunk.

The front of the enclosed booklet now has instructions!

Inside is a note from my stylist.

Trunk Club May 2019 - Booklet 4

This is my invoice. It lists the items I was sent and the cost to keep each item. My $25 styling fee will be deducted from anything I decide to keep.

These items were also in the packet. When I've finished repackaging the items I don't want to keep in the box, I just put this return label on it and use the tape straps to tape it back up! So convenient!

Trunk Club May 2019 - Pattern Mix Peasant Top by Vince Camuto 1 Trunk Club May 2019 - Pattern Mix Peasant Top by Vince Camuto 2

Pattern Mix Peasant Top by Vince Camuto - Cost to keep $99 (not currently available on nordrstrom.com)

If I were my stylist, this is exactly the type of top I would choose for me. It's totally my style - boho, natural fibers, peasant style, loose and billowy. I don't know why, though, but I am not really feeling it. I think I wish the pattern was a little more interesting. This is a really pretty top, though.

Trunk Club May 2019 - Lolita Skinny Jeans by Lucky Brand

Lolita Skinny Jeans by Lucky Brand - Cost to keep $79.50

These are basically my ideal skinny jeans!  They fit well and are supportive, but have a good stretch to them when I move. The length is perfect, and the dark wash is my favorite. Lucky Brand jeans also are high quality in my experience. They are durable and keep their color for a long time.

Bird Print Split Neck Top by Daniel Rainn - Cost to keep $79 (not currently available on nordrstrom.com)

I absolutely love this chiffon top! The black ribbon tie and trim at the neckline make it look so stylish and elegant! The sheer sleeves also make it perfect for a more dressy summer look. I also love the small print in brown tones. And last but never least, I really like the way it looks on me!

Kelly Print Peasant Top by Lucky Brand - Cost to keep $79.50 (currently on sale for $47.40!)

I love pretty much everything from Lucky Brand, and this rayon top is a good example of why. It definitely has the boho look I adore, and as a bonus, this is an unusual color scheme. I love the green and brown pattern! The open neckline is perfect for me, and the tasseled tie is a cute and stylish detail. I love it! I can see myself wearing this a lot this summer.

Metallic Stripe Floral Peasant Top by Caslon - Cost to keep $69 (not currently available on nordrstrom.com)

This cotton/rayon blend top is actually a little too heavy for summer here in Georgia. It was kind of uncomfortable even to just wear outside to model it. I love the print and the colors! The style is also perfect for me, and I like the way it looks on me. I am just not shopping for warm tops right now.

Trunk Club May 2019 - Moss Crepe Wide Leg Crop Jumpsuit by Vince Camuto

Moss Crepe Wide Leg Crop Jumpsuit by Vince Camuto - Cost to keep $138

I usually hate jumpsuits and rompers on myself, but this one's pretty cute! It's a polyester crepe with a little spandex for stretch. I like the tie at the waist, too. I don't tend to wear sleeveless garments, either, but since this is black I can wear almost any kind of layer over it. A summer kimono would look awesome with this!

Trunk Club May 2019 - Lofty Windowpane Ruana by Echo 1 Trunk Club May 2019 - Lofty Windowpane Ruana by Echo 2

Lofty Windowpane Ruana by Echo - Cost to keep $49

Full disclosure, I had never heard of a ruana before, but it turned out to be my favorite item in the box this month! It's a cotton/poly blend with just a touch of silk, and look at that vibrant shade of blue! I just love the color! The windowpane texture and frayed edges give it extra yet subtle style. This is such a lightweight piece - I think it may be the answer to all my sleeveless summer garments!

Trunk Club May 2019 - Shinjuku Maxi Dress by City Chic 1 Trunk Club May 2019 - Shinjuku Maxi Dress by City Chic 2

Shinjuku Maxi Dress by City Chic - Cost to keep $119

It's pretty amazing what they can do with polyester these days. This dress is 100% polyester, but it has a silky feel. It is fully lined, which makes it a bit heavier than I like for summer, but it is definitely high quality and well constructed. The pattern is also just gorgeous! It definitely has that East meets West look to it. Unfortunately, I don't really think it does anything for my figure.

The Verdict: I really enjoy my Trunk Club subscription! This month I got a couple of misses, but the majority of the pieces were fantastic! I particularly love the Lucky Jeans, the Daniel Rainn top, and my new ruana! The pieces from Trunk Club tend to run a little higher in price than some other styling boxes, but that makes sense since they carry high-end brands. Plus it is fun to have so many different pieces to try!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $25 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the 8 items inside is $712. Yay! I have been hoping one of your subs would send you a jumpsuit! It looks fantastic on you and can transition from summer to winter depending on the layer. I wear all mine with kimonos or maxi sweaters as I too have a thing about my arms. I hope you got it. Please let us know what you kept. Love your reviews Anna!
