LiveGlam MorpheMe Brush Club September 2019 Review
The theme this month is "Cloud Nine" and I received 6 (!!!) brushes. All of them are eye product brushes, and as many of you may know... I don't wear a ton of shadows on a regular basis. This should be fun!
M453 Crease Blending Brush (Synthetic) - Retail Value $6.00
Crease blending can be really difficult without the right brush. Too hard and you move everything around too much, and too soft, nothing happens. This brush seems to be pretty close to perfect in terms of firmness and fluffiness because it buffs shadows out nicely into a seamless finish. This is a nice addition to my growing brush collection.
M423 Flat Definer Brush (Synthetic) - Retail Value $5.00
I am not crazy about this brush. The bristles were so firm and harsh! I tried moving it along my lash line but it seemed like most of the eyeshadow just fell off. It did work a little better along my lower lash line, but the whole experience made me feel like I was jabbing myself in the eye. This one might be a little advanced for me!
M461 Duo Jumbo Crease Brush (Synthetic) - Retail Value $7.00
This was another brush I really liked but it felt a lot like the first one in terms of usage. It did have a larger and fluffier head though, and I found that it worked better for blending out shadows than applying them. Because of the size, I could also see this being amazing for powder highlighter application all over my face.
M408 Chisel Shader Brush (Natural) - Retail Value $5.00
This little brush grabs so much product and holds onto it well, allowing you to really pack pigment onto your lid. This is another brush I really liked from this collection, and the density of those natural bristles is unlike anything I already had on hand. At $5, this would be an easy buy to have a few on hand if you are really into high pigmented eyeshadows and huge payoff.
E21 Deluxe Angle Blender Brush (Synthetic) - Retail Value $7.00
This brush has an angled head and fluffy long bristles. It picked up product well and because of that angled surface, it was a dream for getting into the corners of my eyes. It diffused the powder and shadows I chose for a seamless but still highly pigmented look.
E38 Bent Liner Brush (Synthetic) - Retail Value $5.00
Finally, our last item is a bent liner brush that worked so well! In the photo above I used a dry brown shadow for a soft look, but this brush really shines with gel liner. I wasn't convinced that the bent shape would really make a difference but, wow, it made application so much easier. I actually managed to line both eyes nearly identically!
Verdict: MorpheMe Monthly Brush Club had so many brushes this month! Six felt like a ton! Though I probably am not capable of using some of these to their full potential, this was an excellent assortment for filling in gaps in my existing brush collection. As someone who is much more face brush focused, I didn't realize that some of these brushes would make eye makeup application so much easier. Overall, this month has a retail value of $35, which is $15 more than the $20 subscription cost.
