Slay Glam Box September 2019 Review
Slay Glam sends an info card each month with an itemized list of what’s in your box, including retail values.
If you follow @slayglambox on Instagram, the box curator enables subscribers to choose certain items each month by DMing or commenting your item choice; I love this feature! This month I was able to customize which color lipstick I received.
DoColor Blending Brush Set - Retail Value $15 (On sale for $7.99)
Blending brushes are always useful, and thanks to subscription boxes, I have my fair share of them! Three of these are very similarly shaped and sized, and the last brush is a bit smaller for a more concentrated application. The brushes are synthetic so really you can use them with any type of shadow, but these loosely packed bristles will work best with powders. The three similar brushes seem redundant, but they did a great job blending shadows onto my lids.
Drip N Diamonds Diamond Lipstick - Listed Value $26
Check out that fancy packaging! The month I was able to choose which shade of lipstick I wanted to receive between a red and this peachy pink, and I went for this soft shade, which is not usually my speed. I have to say I was a little deterred by the smell of the tube of lipstick, which smells like glue and chemicals. After I made it past that initial impression, I wasn't wowed or disappointed by this somewhat waxy formula. It felt comfortable on the lips, but it didn't layer or build color evenly.
J. Cat X-Treme Access Pocket Shadow - Retail Value $6.99
This palette was the star of the show for me this month. I love the fall, earthy tones and the mix of textures this small palette offers. It is a perfect travel palette this time of year; J. Cat makes some really great products! I didn't have any trouble building color onto my eyes with a brush, but some of the matte swatches didn't show up as well. I used this palette for the look I did below, and it wore for about 6 hours without fading.

Glamlite Alondra Dessy Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $38
Two palettes in one box!? It is bold, but I like it! This palette really shocked me. The swatches are beautiful, and the array of pinks, roses and golds are gorgeous. Unfortunately, my tired eyes cannot house pink hues without looking even more tired right now, but the golds and bronzy tones look fantastic. The red velvety packaging and gold interior feel a little cheap to me, but the product is beautiful.

Medusa's Make-Up Twilight Mascara - Retail Value $12
Another shining star in this month's Slay Glam Box! Wow! I've tried colorful mascaras in the past but none with the volumizing and lengthening effects this one has. I used a white primer before applying 2 coats, and it performed just as well as some of my favorites. Medusa's Make-Up is cruelty-free and vegan, and their price point is so reasonable. I am always looking for the next best mascara, and this definitely made my top 10!
Here is the look I created using all the makeup products from this month’s Slay Glam Box. I took a lot of selfies in different lighting so you can hopefully see how cool this mascara looks, and how it shockingly went super well with my autumnal eyeshadow look. Even though this shade of lipstick is not my favorite, I like it much more now looking back at these photos.
Verdict: Slay Glam Box blew me away this month. Two great palettes and a mascara that wowed-- September was a great month! This box has a retail value of $90.98, all for under $25. I think it is a good box for anyone who likes to try products from brands that can often be overlooked or anyone who is looking to build up their makeup arsenal.
