Pet Treater Cat Pack August 2020 Review
I used to find the dog version of Pet Treater a little bit random but the cat version (maybe because it is smaller) is often a little more focused:
There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription, but you get a couple of inserts. There used to be a sticker each month but this seems to have been discontinued.
On to the items:
Ourpets Cosmic Catnip One to Spare Bowling Ball and Bowling Pin
I haven't listed a price for this item because I found it ranging from $4 (on a regional supermarket chain's website where you couldn't place online orders) to about $13 to over $28! (Those last two are third-party sellers at Walmart.com and Amazon and especially unbelievable. This is not a kind of toy that has an MSRP over $10.) Anyway, the bowling ball has a little opening where you can put catnip, and this comes with a tube of catnip. The bowling pin does not have a place to insert catnip but my cats really seem to like the bowling pin best. Monkey plays with it at night while I am getting ready for bed but it's not too noisy so I guess that's OK.
Pet Zone Catnip Fruit Slices
I can't find this for sale in this package size, only larger packages that are usually sold out (like at this listing). I had a feeling when I saw this that Madison would like these, and I was right. He had a good old time rolling around all over the floor with the red one. (Unfortunately it ended up not showing up in most of the pictures but I did manage to get a few.) These are made from "ecopure" materials, whatever that means, and they're a little scratchy, so I've put these in the home office where I won't step on them in the dark. (The cats visit the home office in the morning when the sun is shining in the windows on that side of the house.)
Emerald Pet Feline Dental Treats, Ocean Fish (3 oz) - Retail Value $4.99
These are crunchy treats that are supposed to help clean your cats' teeth. I don't know how well that works, but all three of my cats do like these. Sneaky will probably end up eating most of them as we give her treats before and after her asthma treatments to get her in the room and as a way to ensure good behavior. These come in a resealable package and are a current product from the manufacturer (not a closeout) and can be purchased various places online and in pet stores.
Kerchief
There's always a kerchief and, although these custom finished ones are better than the bits of fabric cut straight from the bolt that were previously sent, and also better than the enormous, dog-sized ones that were previously sent, I maintain that cats don't like to wear kerchiefs. I think I'd prefer a small, inexpensive hat or costume instead, because the pictures are usually funnier.
Gratuitous cat photos:
Verdict: I was unable to calculate a total value for the August Pet Treater Cat Pack since the kerchief isn't available online and I have my doubts about the retail values of some of the other items. However, apart from the kerchief, my cats were enthusiastic about everything in the August package, with different cats liking different toys, so that part was great.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first pack will ship immediately filled with the most popular fan favorites. Also, there may be some variation among boxes sent during the same month.
Value Breakdown: At $15 per month for this subscription, you are paying approximately $3.75 per item.
