Boxwalla Beauty Box October 2020 Review

I did not receive an info card this month but was sent a digital one!

Let's peek inside!

Naturallogic Unmask Detox Hydration Mask, 2 oz - Retail Value $58.00

It took me a few tries to fully appreciate this mask. I was a little put off by how thin and runny it was the first time I tried it out. This is a messy mask! But once I realized how it magically didn't dry me out, I was kind of hooked. Add to that all the delightful skin saviors inside? This is a winner. The black color comes from detoxing charcoal which is even more superpowered when combined with acne-fighting niacinamide, hydrating aloe, and loads of botanical antioxidants. This can totally be a treatment you use only on specific areas of your face too. It isn't often I come across a detox mask that feels like it was designed for drier skin, so I am pretty thrilled with this being included this month for those of us out there who have that dreadful combination of dryness + acne.

Naturallogic Elemental Advanced Hydration Red Wine Essence, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $58.00

I am someone who likes wine in my glass and in my skincare so this red wine essence was exciting! The main draw for me with an antioxidant essence like this is to prevent free radicals from damaging my skin. Without trying to get too sciency here (I have an art degree and I know better), free radicals cause damage to the skin because they steal electrons from molecules in your skin, which in turn causes aging and damage. Antioxidants work to block those free radical thieves and protect your skin. Red wine happens to have LOADS of antioxidants and combine that with hyaluronic acid, squalane, and panthenol? Skin hydration heaven. I like to use this before a serum or as a replacement to serum, after cleansing, and before moisturizing. This is a very light serum that absorbs easily, feels great, and even smells just a little like wine!

Fine Cosmetics Daytime Radiance Eye Serum, 30 mL - Retail Value $66.00

Our last item is an eye serum from the German brand Fine. Inside is a blend of witch hazel, beet root extract, Persian silk tree, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and lactic acid. The eye area can be tricky to maintain because while it often is one of the first places to show aging on our faces, it is also super delicate! This formula is a nice way to gently apply hydrating elements as well as smoothing ingredients in a formula that is gentle to this delicate skin. This formula is a cloudy gel that is very light. Simply pat a few drops around your eye area (no rubbing!) and you are good to go! The lactic acid is great for smoothing out fine lines while ingredients like hyaluronic acid keep it hydrated. As with most good skincare formulas, this one manages to balance out the performance and the soothing ingredients really well.

Verdict: This Boxwalla Beauty box delivered some really great products! I am obsessed with the charcoal mask and that red wine essence. Both are so nourishing for any skin type but I love that they both seem tailored for my dry skin. The eye serum was a nice addition from a new-to-me brand. I liked the ingredients and packaging a lot, and my eyes are loving it too. The total value of this delivery lands at $182 which is a nice overall value for a $49.95 box! Boxwalla always manages to send such delightful brands and formulas that always feel luxe and thought out. I look forward to this one every month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! But they sell out fast.

Value Breakdown: At $49.95 for this box, here's how much you'll pay for each item:

  • Mask $15.92
  • Essence $15.92
  • Eye Serum $18.11

Alternatively, each of the 3 items has an average cost of $16.65.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I am interested in subscribing but does Boxwalla allow you to skip boxes?

I was wondering the same thing. I subscribed after seeing one of the items in the December box. It would be nice if you could skip if you wanted to.

I’ve only tried the mask so far and I was like Megan, I thought it was too watery but it is so hydrating and rinses off really well. My skin felt so smooth after. I love essences too so I can’t wait to try it after my current one. I am so glad I didn’t cancel my sub after the Votary box. I’ve had a few duds from this sub but lately, the curation really suits my skin and nose.

I don’t regret not grabbing this particular box because an eye serum and detox mask are two things I don’t need atm. But I am a little bummed to miss out of that red wine essence – I love essences, and they almost never pop up in sub boxes.

Crossing my fingers that December’s box really hits it out of the park for me.

Fingers crossed! Maybe you can track down the essence on swaps? I really like it!

SO excited for my box to arrive! This is the only sub I currently have & I can’t recommend it highly enough. This will be my 4th box & thus far I’ve either liked or loved all but one item (which I’m so so on primarily due to high baking soda content.) I love the chance to try some new items from some great smaller – & cruelty free – brands, many of which might not otherwise fit in my budget, & the bi-monthly schedule means things don’t pile up. I’m a big fan!

Thank you! It is one of my favorite beauty boxes. I think the bi-monthly cadence is really nice for a lot of people who want minimal quantity on their shelves but high quality.

I don’t know how I’ve managed to miss your review of this box in the past when I often seek out your reviews. Love what I’m hearing and seeing from this box so far! One of the things I like is that the products seem like they would last a decently long time also.
