Look Fantastic Limited Edition Hair Edit Review

Here is the info booklet for the box.

SEEN Blow-Out Crème, 5 oz - Retail Value $24.00

I only heat style my hair on the rarest occasions, so if I only wanted to use this for blowouts this tube would last me at least five years. Luckily, it has a host of other benefits for your hair- it’s silicone-free and also has squalene and botanical extracts. It smoothed out my hair strands when wet, and added a bit of shine, and a small amount could also help tame frizz when your hair is dry. Along with protecting hair up to 450 degrees, it also protects against pollution and UV damage. The texture was a lightweight creme, and I liked how I only needed a small amount and it didn’t feel like it was weighing down my hair.

Imbue Curl Energising Hydration Serum, 3.3 oz - Retail Value $13.00

Right off the bat, I love how affordable this full-size curl serum is (and that we got a second full-size product in the box). The texture is a lightweight cream that didn’t weigh my curls down, and it’s formulated with a hydrating and nourishing blend of cocoa butter, shea butter, cupuaçu butter, and coconut oil. This isn’t the product to reach for if you want your curls to hold their shape (a mousse or gel is better suited for that), but this gave a lot of moisture to my curls and helped them look naturally springy, which is exactly the kind of product I enjoy to use. Even if your hair isn’t curly, I think you will still appreciate this hair serum if you want some lightweight moisture.

Olaplex No.3, 20 ml - Estimated Value $5.60 (Buy the 100 ml version for $28.00)

The first time I used the (very hyped) Olaplex No.3, I was left feeling a little confused- I didn’t actually think it did much for my hair. A friend told me to keep using it because she didn’t see results until after multiple uses, and that ended up being the same for me- after a few weeks of using it once a week, I noticed my hair looked and felt healthier. That’s because this isn’t a hair mask- Olaplex calls this a reparative treatment that works to strengthen your hair, reduce split ends, and repair damage. I do a good job of keeping my curls healthy because I don’t heat style, but curls are fragile so I always want to keep them strong and split-end free. I now have completely emptied a full-size bottle and own the limited edition jumbo-size bottle of this treatment, and I do really recommend it- this tube should have enough product for two (maybe three?) uses, and I hope that’s enough for others to see the difference this can make in their hair.

Christophe Robin Salt Scrub, 40 ml - Estimated Value $10.13 (buy the 75 ml jar for $19.00)

This is another favorite product of mine- I made sure to get the full size as a choice item in my Ipsy Glam Bag X, and I have gone through at least four mini jars like the one sent in this box. I have a dry scalp that gets some buildup along my forehead thanks to my sunscreen and other skincare applications, and this does a great job of cleansing my scalp without completely drying out the rest of my hair. It does take some elbow grease to use- I apply small amounts in sections, massage it in until the salt is dissolving, and then move on to the next section of my scalp. I only need to use this once every two weeks or so, but I love how it helps me take care of my scalp (and the feeling of massaging in the salt scrub feels really nice, which adds a lot to the user experience).

Alterna Caviar Bond Repair Conditioner, 40 ml - Estimated Value $5.44 (buy the 250 ml version for $34.00)

If I didn’t use curl-specific shampoos and conditioners, this bond repair line from Alterna would probably be the product line I reached for. The formula has a lot of omega-3 fatty acids thanks to the caviar extract, and there are a lot of other nutrients in this formula from the fermented ingredients like radish root and zinc. This provides plenty of moisture to my dry curls without weighing them down, and I don’t have to use a ton of conditioner to get that result the way I do with other brands.

Phillip B Peppermint & Avocado Shampoo, 60 ml - Retail Value $14.00

I am a really tough critic of shampoos because so many of them dry out my hair, but this one did a good job. The texture was a green gel that lathered without being stripping, and I loved the peppermint smell and the cooling sensation from the mint and menthol. This left my hair feeling clean but it didn’t dry out my hair or leave it feeling more tangled (or worse, like straw), and I appreciate all of the hydrating oils and extracts this shampoo is formulated with. For my hair I definitely couldn’t use both the Phillip B shampoo and the Christopher Robin Scalp scrub in the same routine (or even in the same week), however, your hair needs will vary and this is a really good traditional shampoo.

Tangle Teezer Mini Original Brush in Pink Bubblegum - Retail Value $10.00

I have always wanted to try a Tangle Teezer, so I’m stoked this was included in the box. I have been exclusively a wet brush user for years, so I was curious how this would stack up. It fit comfortably in my hand, and it didn’t slip out of my grip in a wet shower when I was dealing with my tangles. It did take a little longer to get through all of my hair (I have a lot) compared to my wet brush, but I felt like it gave me a more thorough detangle because it was able to get closer to my scalp and had the bristles closer together to get small knots. I was really satisfied with the performance, and now I’m curious if the larger size Tangle Teezer Original will speed up the process while keeping the same quality of results.

Hush and Hush Deeply Rooted Supplement, 4 ct - Buy 120 Capsules for $75.00

I know this fits in with the box theme, but I'm not crazy about samples of supplements being sent in boxes like this when you need to use them consistently for at least a month to see results. My mind was kind of blown when I saw that one single serving was all four of those capsules- those things are not small, and that would be something that's hard for me to add to my supplement routine just because it would add an entire extra mouthful to swallow. These supplements do have a clinical study to back up their claim that this helps with hair growth, and the before and after photos look impressive- but those results took three months to get.

The Verdict: Look Fantastic really impressed me with this box- it is rare that hair kits like this actually work for me because my curls are so finicky, but I could see myself using every single product in this kit. Along with sending two full-size products Look Fantastic also did a good job by sending two highly popular items from well-known brands in the Olaplex and Christophe Robin. Even if you don't have curly hair I think this box would most likely be a hit for you, and I'm happy to have finally been able to try a Tangle Teezer- I'll be picking up the larger size soon enough! Value-wise, everything (except the supplements) added up to $82.17 so we are a little short of the promised value of $95, but I still think this is a well-curated box that is worth the $35 cost.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, the LF Hair Edit box is still available.
