My Pick: Sunday Riley A+ High-Dose Retinoid Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $85
I mean, this was an easy pick. This is one of my favorite non-Rx retinol formulas and it is on the pricier side. I have gone through a few bottles of this on and off and it absolutely helps to even out skin texture and tone, while helping to fade and fight fine lines. I also appreciate how it is still somehow gentle and doesn't make my skin drier or red. This is the sort of product that I like to use before bed as the step before my night cream. Any sort of retinol can make you more sun-sensitive, even in winter, so be sure to wear your SPF!
Choice 2

My Pick: Glow by Daye Satin Bonnet Duo – Retail Value $40
My hair is coarse and prone to frizziness, and one of my girlfriends suggested I try a satin bonnet. I have tried satin pillowcases before but I hate how they feel on a face covered in thicker night skincare. So, that habit didn't stick, unlike those pillowcases to my face. The sad thing is, I did notice a difference in my hair. On the smoother fabric, it was always shinier and less frizzy than on my cotton pillowcases. A bonnet like this might be the difference-maker since it doesn't touch my face. The first night I tried this, I did end up accidentally removing it (I move around a lot while asleep) but I still think there was a benefit. Luckily, the openings of these are elasticized and also have a drawstring sort of feature. So I plan on wearing them a little tighter. I sleep on my hair wet (I am a very lazy hair person) and I found that I really needed to towel dry my hair thoroughly so it wasn't still damp in the morning. But, otherwise, these feel promising.
Choice 3
All subscribers will be able to pick one of the following for their Winter Box:
- Masontops Mason Jar Cocktail Shaker Kit
- Kate Spade Rise & Shine Stud Earrings
- BITE Beauty Power Move Soft Matte Lipstick
- dr. Brandt skincare Collagen Serum
- Michael Kors Beanie with Pom
- Koral 1lb Ankle Weights
- True + Luscious Lucky Glow Palette Vol. 2
My Pick: BITE Beauty Power Move Soft Matte Lipstick in 'Sugar Buns' - Retail Value $28
BITE is a brand that I have had really good luck with. Their formulas always feel as nourishing as they do flattering (aside from the chocolate brown shade I received once. Not a good look). This Power Move formula is a "hydrating matte" finish and I would agree with that. It does have that matte look without ever fully drying, making it very comforting to wear. Sure, it might not last as long as a more matte matte, but I will trade the comfort for losing a few hours of wear any day. I have never minded reapplying lipstick! This shade is described as a pink nude which I think is pretty accurate, though it might be more subtle if you have a warmer and/or deeper skin tone. The pigment is great and I can see this being really flattering for loads of people.
Choice 4
All subscribers will be able to pick one of the following for their Winter Box:
- Way of Will Slim Deep
- TULA The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser
- Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal Scalp Treatment
- Briogeo Curl Charisma™ Leave-in Defining Crème
- Briogeo Farewell Frizz Heat Protectant
My Pick: TULA The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser, 6.7 fl oz - Retail Value $28
FFF is one of those boxes that somehow manages to mix some of the best brands with really random stuff. I am always really happy to see the same brands I buy for myself at Sephora or Ulta, even if some of the other items (the last choice in this box is a great example) fall flat. These great brands always seem to balance out with the less... exciting. Tula is another one of those beauty brands I really love to receive because their formulas tend to make my skin very happy. In fact, the brand is why I grabbed this cleanser from this choice bracket. Normally I am a cream cleanser sort of gal (gels can be really stripping for drier skin) but I figured Tula wouldn't do that to me. And I was right. This is a great cleanser for those days where you are randomly breaking out or feeling like your oil production is on overdrive. It gives you that really clean feeling without drying your face out or making it feel tight. In fact, the probiotics inside are there to help balance the skin's oil while loads of antioxidants help shield from the aging effects all around us. I can see why this is a "cult classic"!
Choice 5
Annual subscribers will be able to pick one of the following for their Winter Box.
- Epare Milk Frother
- Vitamasques Cranberry & Apple Sheet Mask Set
- Vahdam Teas Recovery Sampler
- Grown Alchemist Body Cream (Rosemary Leaf)
- Cocofloss: Tropical Trio
(Annual subscribers get to pick their item. Seasonal subscribers will be surprised.)
My Pick: Grown Alchemist Body Cream (Mandarin and Rosemary Leaf), 120 mL - Retail value $30
If you are anything like me, you will slather 14 layers of goo on your face without ever even thinking of your hands. Which might be a big mistake! The top of your hands has thinner skin that is also prone to aging. My Nana is always reminding me that "aging starts at the hands" and, though my bum left knee begs to differ, she is right. Our hands are constantly washed, cooked in the sun when we drive, and prone to taking a backseat to our faces. This selecting was my attempt to pamper my paws a little bit. It is a body cream, so you can use it all over but I especially loved it on my hands and the pretty tube makes it feel like a very fancy purse cream. It has a light scent of rosemary and citrus that is unisex and very easy to love.
Sixth Choice Item(s):
Annual subscribers will be able to pick one of the following for their Winter Box.
I always find the last choice confusing since they started offering single items or bundles. I also didn't have actually see many of the choices below at the time that we built this box. You can either choose from a single item or pick a bundle of a few items. Here are the choices:
- KVD Beauty: Go Big or Go Home Mascara
- Lucky Brand: Solid Brushed Scarf
- Summer Fridays: CC Me Serum
- Fits Puzzles Puzzle : Oasis
- Billion Dollar Brows 6pc Pro Brush Essentials Kit
- Summer & Rose Tweezer with Pouch, AHAVA Refreshing Facial Cleansing Gel & Aesthetica Liquid Eyeliner Bundle
- Barefoot Scientist: Pedicure File, BENNKAI: Hot Chocolate Bomb Maker & Aesthetica: Liquid Eyeliner Bundle
- Avène: Thermal Spring Water & Scentuals: Natural, Organic Skin Care Vitamin C Serum & Aesthetica: Liquid Eyeliner Bundle
- BENNKAI Hot Chocolate Bomb Maker & Voesh Manicure Bundle
My Pick: Barefoot Scientist Pedicure File, BENNKAI Hot Chocolate Bomb Maker & Aesthetica Liquid Eyeliner Bundle
When I made the selections for my box, there were very few options, which was my main reason for selecting this bundle. I think they must have added more later which is great because this last choice really made the rest of my curation lose cohesion for sure. I mean, yes, I will use the file and I will also probably try (and fail) to make hot chocolate bombs, but can you ever imagine me willingly choosing a black eyeliner?
Verdict
FabFitFun always has so much variety to choose from. Literally, you could build your box around your interests, the tastes of a certain special someone, or shop from it by picking out different items for different people. It is one of those boxes that are super versatile and certainly one of the most customizable. For the beauty enthusiast, this month offered a host of name brands sure to impress: Sunday Riley, TULA, BITE Beauty, and Grown Alchemist. Though the final choice item bundle felt really random because my choices at the time were limited, these items would still make great stocking stuffers, even if I find them underwhelming. There is always enough in this box to justify the price, though depending on if you are annual or seasonal (and, get early access to item choice or not!) I can see how your feelings could go either way, especially if items sell out. It is still one of those quarterly treats that always feel exciting and festive though for sure.
