LOOKFANTASTIC Cyber Bundle Mystery Box Review

LOOKFANTASTIC Beauty Box is a beauty subscription box from the U.K. that promises at least six hand-picked items. Each box includes skincare, haircare, cosmetics, and body products curated around a theme. It's available to U.S. customers for $19.00 per month with free shipping. They also frequently release limited edition curated sets, and during Cyber Weekend this year, they released a few different mystery boxes for purchase.

This is a review of the Look Fantastic Beauty Box Cyber Bundle worth $100 for $13.80. Shipping was $6, and the box was discounted even further with their Black Friday discount code. In total, I paid $17.73 for this box.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

My mystery box came packaged in one big outer box, with two smaller boxes inside. When I turned the boxes, I saw labels indicating one box was actually the beauty box from May 2021, and the other was the beauty box from July. Opening up each of those boxes was like unboxing the monthly subscription.

Look Fantastic Cyber Bundle Mystery Box Review

STARSKIN VIP 7 Second Mask – Estimated Value $2.00 (Buy a 5 pack of masks for $10.0)

One of the things I love about face masks is the specific fact that they're a skincare item I used for a longer period of time, so this is kind of the opposite of what I usually go for. That being said, this is awesome for when you're short on time. Starskin claims that this can replace the use of massage, exfoliator, toner, serum, moisturizer, mask, and makeup primer with just a few quick swipes over your face. I'm not sure about all of that, but this did leave my skin looking nice and feeling prepped for makeup. I wouldn't use something like this super frequently, but it was fun to try out.

Elemis Superfood Glow Priming Moisturiser, 20 ml – Retail Value $22.00

orange tube with white lid on white background

I'm a fan of Elemis products, and this moisturizer was lovely. It was a great one to use during the mornings before applying makeup because it wasn't too heavy while the kombucha and fermented ginger worked to give my skin a soft glow, and it didn't pill under my sunscreen either. If you like Elemis products, you're probably feeling pretty happy considering this one travel-sized tube of moisturizer is worth more than the cost of the entire mystery box.

Comfort Zone Hydramemory Cream Gel, 15ml - Estimated Value $17  (buy the 60 mL version for $68)

blue and white tube with white lid on white background

I've tried this moisturizer before, and I like it. It's made with both  both moringa oil and hyaluronic acid to deliver deep moisture, but it's still lightweight thanks to the cream-gel texture. This absorbed quickly into my skin and left it feeling nourished, and I thought it was a good daytime moisturizer to wear under sunscreen and makeup for my dry skin.

ECooking Peeling Mask, 15ml - Estimated Value $13.32 (buy the 50 mL version for $44.40)

I cringed when I saw the lid of this mask said "Don't panic if your skin turns red- that means it's working." As someone with rosacea, any product that proudly proclaims that typically is going to be strong for my skin. This has lactic, glycolic, and salicylic acid to exfoliate your skin, and while it does have squalane in it there's not much else to buffer those potent chemical exfoliants. I tried this out on a patch test, and I did feel a burning sensation when this was on my skin. Because of that, I didn't move forward with applying this all over my face because I knew my skin wouldn't tolerate it well. You may have a more enjoyable experience if your skin likes potent exfoliating treatment, but my skin just yells at me.

Dr. Botanicals Kiwi Cooling Eye Serum, 15ml - Retail Value $17.99

blue and white label on clear bottle next to blue and white box

Yay- another item worth more than the cost of the entire mystery box! This eye serum is a lightweight liquid that spread out easily, so I only needed a drop or two for each eye area to have plenty. This didn't really feel cooling on it's own, but sticking it in the fridge before using it may make this an even more pleasant experience. I didn't experience any eye irritation, and I appreciate that this layered well with the rest of my skincare routine.

MineTan Hydrating Face & Tan Mist, 1 fl oz– Estimated Value $5.22 (Buy a 6.7 fl oz  ml bottle for $34.95)

clear bottle showing clear spray with blue lid

I just really have not gotten on the self-tanning train, no matter how many products come in subscription boxes. I'm sure they would make me look pretty, but it sounds like a lot of work upkeeping the glow and at this point in life I am tapped out in tasks I can take on that require additional effort. This spray-on mist works as a gradual tan for both your face and body, and it absorbs into your skin incredibly quickly. I tried this out on a small patch of my arm, and it was barely noticeable the next day- I like that, because that means it would be hard to mess it up.

Grow Gorgeous Defence Anti-Pollution Spray, 60 ml – Estimated Value $3.33 (Buy a 150 ml for $27.00)

frosted bottle with grey label and black lid

I'll be honest and say I've never really thought about protecting my hair from pollution- but maybe that's something I should be paying more attention to. This is a lightweight mist made with green tea extract, panthenol, and polysaccharides, and along with environmental protection this also offers protection from thermal styling. I couldn't really feel it once I sprayed some into my hair, which means my friends with thin, straight, or fine hair will probably really like this.

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm in Cucumber Mint - Retail Value $3.59

Burt's Bees is such a lip balm classic. This spin on the original is still made with beeswax, but it also has cucumber extract and peppermint oil. It did give my lips a bit of a tingle from the peppermint that I personally find pleasant, and it gives my lips a boost of nourishment to get me through the next few hours.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Rosewine, 4.2 g  – Retail Value $4.97

I can't tell you the last time I tried a Revlon lipstick, but I was happy to give this a shot. The shade Rosewine is really pretty! It has a creamy formula thanks to the avocado oil and vitamin E, and while the finish isn't glossy it's not a matte finish either. I guess it falls in the satin finish category? It's comfortable, and this berry mauve with a hint of rust is a color that I think will work with a variety of skin tones.

Illamasqua Beyond Liquid Mini Highlighter, 2 ml – Estimated Value $4.13 (Buy a 15 ml tube for $31.00)

small black tube with black lid

I'm more of a powder highlight girl than a liquid one, but there's no denying that this brings the glimmer. This highlighter is a sparkly golden shimmer, and while this sample is small you only need a small amount to get the high points of your face gleaming. I like to apply it to the tip of my nose along with my cheekbones, and this blended out really nicely with a damp beauty blender.

Here is the highlighter swatched underneath the lipstick.

The Vintage Cosmetics Company Silicone Exfoliating Pad - Estimated Value $2.66 (Buy 3 for $7.99)

They have a product for just about everything, apparently. I guess if you've never gotten a Foreo in a subscription box and don't want to use a wash cloth or something else for physical exfoliation, you can use this thin silicone exfoliating pad to massage your face with when cleansing? This does feel a little flimsy when you're using it, and I honestly don't see myself reaching for it beyond testing it out for this review. It does feel similar to a Foreo or other cleansing device (minus the vibrations), but it doesn't feel necessary to any part of my skincare routine.

This Works Stress Check Kind Hands Cream, 30ml - Estimated Value $4.80 (buy the 75 mL version for $12)

white and blue tube with white lid

I love the smell of anything from This Works- their pillow spray is amazing and their bath salts are lovely. This hand cream is made with vitamin E and shea butter so it does feel a tad heavy, and it smells amazing with notes of ylang-ylang and lavender. While this is a more thick hand cream it didn't leave my hands feeling sticky, and I like how the small size makes it convenient to toss into my clutch to bring with me out into the stressful world.

L'Oreal Paris Hand Sanitiser Gel

One of the reasons we need so many hand creams is because of how often we need hand sanitizers these days. If this is available for sale in the US, I couldn't find it. This also doesn't look like it was a spoiled item in either the May or July beauty boxes, so I'm not quite sure how this actually ended up in the box. Either way, it's here, it's hand sanitizer, it will be used, and there are no frills about it.

The Verdict

I think this was my first mystery box from LOOKFANTASTIC, and it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I think my initial first impression would have been more positive if all of the contents had been packaged in one box, rather than clearly just being leftover stock from previous months in their subscription boxes. The value of this mystery box is certainly, there, however, and I received multiple full-size products too. Lookfantastic met their promise in sending $100 of product in their mystery box (my math adds up to a hair over $101), so I really think it'll come down to individual preferences (more so than usual) on if this mystery box is considered a success.

To Wrap Up

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this is sold out.

Value Breakdown: At $17.73 for the entire box (including shipping), that's like paying $1.36 per item.

I also purchased a Lookfantastic cyber bundle and received the same two boxes (I paid $12.40 for mine and received free shipping).

They must have had a lot of extras from May & July

They used to do that with their advent calender. They would choose products leftover from that years boxes so I didn’t buy one this year. But from what I saw of the 2021 advent calendar I wish I would’ve ordered now. Hope that trend continues. I love most everything this box sends so at the discount price I would’ve been happy no matter what.
