First Impressions: February/March 2022 "Self Love" Box

This month's Black Girl Magic Box came with a February/March newsletter focused on self love. What a beautiful & fitting theme considering February is the month of love and Black history! I am already loving the emphasis on taking care of self and am excited to see what self care items this box holds. As always, a Magical Affirmation card was also included.
BGMB Coconut Soy Wax Candle, 5 oz

Our first item in the Self Love box is one of my favorite items, a candle! If you've read any of my previous reviews, you know I absolutely LOVE candles. I go through them so fast because I'm constantly burning them. Candles make me feel good, so I couldn't think of a better item to be placed in this Self Love box. I am smitten that the candle includes roses and even a crystal! The smell is glorious, sweet and floral. This candle also has a burn time of 40 hours, which makes me so pleased.
Sugar Shak Collection Luxurious Bath Bomb, 5 g – Estimated Retail Value $7.00

This box is so sweet so far. I'm really excited, y'all! This bath bomb is called Pink Valentine and consists of my favorite colors - pink and gold. The item smells sweet and sugary, I mean just amazing! I took a bath using this bomb and lit the candle reviewed above and was in heaven. The sweet smell allowed me to relax and just feel really good and my body felt moisturized after (not left feeling dry like some bath bombs tend to do). This item is sadly now discontinued as it was a Valentine special only, but you'll have to check out the many other fabulous bath bombs and bath products Sugar Shak has to offer on their site!
BGMB Self Love Soothing Bath Soak, 8 oz

All the bath products with this month's box! Here we have an exotic rose scent bath soak that includes Himalayan pink salt, organic oils, and actual rose buds. If you love floral scents, you'll truly enjoy the fragrance of this soak. The rose is the star of this show and is not overwhelming. I love BGMB soaks because they truly melt into my skin, leave me moisturized, and the fragrance lasts all day.
Vitamasoues Vegan Collagen Lychee, 21 ml – Retail Value $3.99

Talk about sweet — lychee is one of my favorite fruits. To me, lychee is a cross between a berry and rose, so of course this face mask is fitting to be in our sweet box of self love! This is my first introduction to the Vitamasoues brand and I've learned that the products are made in South Korea. I love Korean facial products! This is a triple-layer mask used to promote skin plumping and moisturizing of the face. My skin looked, felt, and smelled amazing after use. My skin was soft and subtle. I'd love to try out the many other facial products that Vitamasoues has to offer!
Kanda Dark Chocolate, 3.5 oz – Retail Value $7.00

So glad to see BGMB bring this tasty gem back. Kanda chocolate is grown, processed, packed and posted all straight from Ghana! It's 56% cocoa and made with 100% fair trade Ghana cocoa beans. Oh, I don't think I mentioned yet that it is delicious! The chocolate is rich and melts right in your mouth. This is a bar that I eat a little off at a time throughout the week as a "treat myself" gift. You can't go wrong with chocolate from the Motherland.
BGMB Lip Balm and Lip Scrub, 15 ml each

We are slowly pulling ourselves out of these winter months (finally), and it's time to exfoliate and moisturize our lips with a product that is more spring-like. We are going to do that with these strawberry 'Love my Lips' lip products! Strawberry is one of my favorite scents and I couldn't wait to try the two items. The scrub is a strawberry/coconut blend and is made with sugar, coconut oil, and strawberries. Simple ingredients that deliver such a great lip scrub. I half wish they had instructions included, but I figured I'd put a little on my lips and rinse off with water. It worked to remove my dead skin off my lips, and of course my lips tasted so sweet. I then applied the balm after! I haven't used lip balm in a little container since high school, so I appreciated the nostalgia of it. The balm is also made of simple ingredients such as shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, beet powder, and more strawberry oil. The oil absorbed right into my lips, leaving them soft and glowing.
Fresh Seed Glow Vanilla Body Oil, 4 oz – $20.00

Our last item in this month's Self Love themed box is a vanilla body oil. This box has truly had all my favorite scents in it. I love the smell of vanilla everything. I appreciate how lightweight this body oil is, yet still incredibly moisturizing for my skin. The fragrance stays on all day long. I also adore how this oil is handmade in small batches in Brooklyn, NY (I love New York).
Verdict
I am completely smitten with this month's Black Girl Magic Box! I mean, seriously, I loved every single item. I can't pick a favorite one, they are all my favorites. I felt that each item was carefully thought of to go with the theme of self love. I was also introduced to some new brands that I'd like to try more products from, such as Sugar Shak and Vitamasoues. Thank you BGMB for including items that remind us to love ourselves in this month of love and Black History!
