First Impressions: April/May 2022 "The Self Care Essentials" Box

This month's Black Girl Magic Box didn't come with a newsletter as it has in previous boxes. Instead, there was a greeting directly on the box detailing this month's theme " The Self Care Essentials." I am expecting lots of feel-good items this month. BGMB never disappoints with their body products and fragrances. As always, a Magical Affirmation card was also included.

You know I love me a candle, and this month, we're starting our Self Care Essentials Box with a BGMB vanilla and orchard scented candle. It couldn't have came at a better time! I've been spring cleaning my apartment and trying to find a Spring scent to usher in good vibes. This candle scent perfectly fits what I've been looking for. It's a soft vanilla and floral fragrance and serves as a wonderful invite to warmer weather days and Spring manifestations. The candle has a wood wick which I love because the crackling sound is super relaxing. My only wish is that this candle had a burn time of more than 5 hours. 5 hours is honestly a significant amount of time, I just love this smell so much I never want it to end!
BGMB Me Time Whipped Body Butter (Lavender & Bergamot), 2 oz

Another addicting fragrance alert! This next item is a silky soft body butter that smells of lavender with just a light hint of citrus. This body butter is WHIPPED. I've never seen a body butter so smooth. It melts right into skin and moisturizes deep, allowing skin to remain soft throughout the day. I again am asking for larger sized products, because I truly don't want this product to run out!

We have a lavender theme with this moth's Self Care Essentials box! It makes sense as lavender is said to decrease anxiety and bring about better moods. Allow this bath soak to relax you as it melts into your skin and embraces you in its sweet lavender embrace! My skin always feels soft and full of moisture after soaking in BGMB bath soaks, and this time was no different.

What would a self-care box be without a devoted self-care journal? I received this journal in a previous BGMB and have really put it to good use since receiving. This journal uses a daily check-in method to ensure you are intentionally creating moments of self care. There is space to detail how you feel, what you're grateful for, what you receive, and any other notes you'd like to jot down.

Closing out our Self Care Essentials box with an item I am thrilled to have received! I have had this book on my wishlist for almost a year now and legit did a shriek of joy when I saw this in our box this month. Kenya Hunt creates a timeless celebration of womanhood, of blackness, and the possibilities they both contain. Books are the keys to my heart, and I am so excited to dive into this literary journey on womanhood and blackness, both of which I, of course, can relate.
Verdict
All items proved to be essential in this month's Black Girl Magic Box! I appreciate the lavender theme in so many of our items! The body butter, bath soak, and candle all had similar scents of shea butter with a hints of floral. The magic journal is a perfect item when thinking of self care as it allows you to intentionally make it a part of your day and then reflect on your feelings after. Last but not least, the book that has been on my wishlist for almost a year is now in my hands and will be on my bookshelf for years to come! I am looking forward to Kenya's thoughts on womanhood and blackness.
