Good morning, every bun. This week will be a quickie since I only have three pieces to review and two of them were worn together. I'll probably skip next week so I wish you all a very special Thanksgiving!
WHAT I'M WEARING THIS WEEK: Haverdash
Welcome back to What I'm Wearing This Week — Haverdash where you can rent and wear designer items by names you know and love, and up-and-coming designers too!
For the newbies to WIWTW, every Friday I’ll take you on a trip through my life, where I’m going, what’s missing in my closet, my current obsessions, what I’m excited to try, and maybe even buy. Well, that's if the price is right!
For sizing reference, I am 5'11", weigh 140 pounds, and have a 33" inseam.
Haverdash is a clothing rental service that gives members unlimited style options for one flat fee. Powered by CaaStle, the leading B2B rental technology and logistics company in the U.S.
This is a review of their plan that lets you rent 3 pieces at a time for $59 a month. For an extra $5 per box, if you use the Dart feature, you can choose the items and speed up shipping too.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
WHAT I RECEIVED
All three items by Rebecca Minkoff, Express, and Nicole Miller arrived fresh from the dry cleaner and neatly packed inside a cardboard box.
THE GOODS
Rebecca Minkoff Janice Top, Express High-Waisted Ruched Knit Skirt
About Nicole Miller: With over 20 years' experience working in the Downtown LA Fashion textile industry and inspired by the birth of her first granddaughter Hayden, founder Hailee Lee realized that the style, detailing and quality of clothes she liked transcended age and size. She recognized the pain when clothes didn’t fit in the right places. Ultimately, she understood that the better your clothes fit and look, the better you feel in yourself. So she set about launching Hayden Los Angeles and Hayden Girls - two family-run inclusive apparel brands designed in LA for Women and Tween Girls, of all sizes, who enjoy fun, feminine, casual to boho style.
About Express: Express is a fashion-forward apparel brand and style community whose purpose is to create confidence and inspire self-expression. From wardrobe essentials to the latest trends, we outfit doers, makers, movers, and shakers with clothing designed for real-life versatility. At Express, we believe that everyone should dream big and dress accordingly.
Why I rented it: I thought this could be a good option for the office.
How I styled it: Obviously, I paired both pieces together, and I pulled out the Louis Vuitton Graffiti Speedy Bag, and my new-to-me Aquazzura Suede Tassel Pumps.
Size and fit: I got a medium in both the skirt and top and the fit was a little off for each piece. The skirt is a textured sweater design with a wide elasticized waistband, side ruched detail, and a midi length hem. It was a bit large in the waist and hips, and the gathered fabric sat oddly on me.
The blouse was also a little oversized and it was almost too short to tuck inside the skirt, or anything else. It's crafted in cotton poplin with a V-neckline, embroidered and ruffled shoulders, long sleeves with banded cuffs, front-button closure, and a rounded shirt hem.
Condition: Very good.
Honest review: I liked both pieces and I'm thrilled Haverdash has reconnected me with Express and Rebecca Minkoff, but this outfit didn't work for me because the top is too short, and the skirt is too big.
Nicole Miller Floral Velvet Burnout Dress
About the Designer: NICOLE MILLER is a global fashion and lifestyle brand headquartered in New York City. Founded in 1982, the iconic brand has grown to be one of the premier names in American fashion. With an emphasis on signature graphic prints, luxe fabrics, and innovative silhouettes, the womenswear collection cultivates a look of elegance with a hint of rebellion while bringing accessible luxury to the modern woman. Known for her skillful draping and unique detailing, Nicole Miller designs every piece for the woman who wants to look and feel her best.
Why I rented it: Looked like a great holiday party dress, and it didn't disappoint.
How I styled it: I wore it with Zara Floral earrings, Capezio Fishnets, Twinset Platform Pumps, a vintage mink jacket, and a vintage Chanel bag. I really need to get some neutral hued pumps.
Size and fit: I got an 8 and it was a good fit. This mockneck mini dress is crafted in burnout velvet with pleated shoulder pads, long sleeves, back zip closure, and a draped skirt with tulip hem.
Condition: Very good.
Honest review: Had I received this dress later in the season, I would've worn it out to a holiday party or a festive happy hour, but it was just too warm for velvet.
DID THEY DELIVER?
- What items were most helpful and versatile to own this week to ensure I got the most out of my rental and completed the look I craved? I didn't wear any of the pieces. I didn't have enough time, and the weather was too warm.
- Did they meet or exceed expectations? Met expectations. I STILL wish I had more of a say in what I received.
- What’s the return process like? Simple! Just place your items in the pre-paid garment bag and drop it off at one of your nearest USPS.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I have one more week of my Haverdash reviews, and I have a feeling that'll be it for us. I'll follow up with a full review in a few weeks, but for now all I'll say is that there are a few kinks they need to work out. The price is right, the clothes are cute, but I just think it's important to have more of a say in what you receive.
Mr. HGL is failing, and I just contacted the vet because I don't think I can keep him going like this anymore. Here's a pic of him chilling on the pillows after a haircut at Divine's Pet Care.
VALUE BREAKDOWN: You can up to get 9 items a month for $59/month. I don't know the total value because they don't show the retail price versus the resale price.
