FabFitFun is a subscription that I have reviewed for close to two years straight now and it is truly one of the most versatile out there in terms of variety and customizations. Since it is a quarterly box, it arrives with lots of fun things, and in this huge box that makes unboxing feel like an actual event rather than simply getting a box. Ready to take a peek back at the last year of deliveries? Let's dive in!

What FabFitFun Got Right in 2021
Brands
2021 was a big brand year for FabFitFun. A few of the best and biggest? Sunday Riley, OUAI, MAC Cosmetics, Murad, Summer Fridays, Kate Spade, Alice+Olivia, and more. It is always fun to feel like you are getting a huge deal on your subscriptions (heck, it is one of the main reasons to ever subscribe!), and seeing big names that you also see in Sephora and Macy's makes it feel extra awesome.
Variety
We experimented with "themed" customizations for Summer, Fall, and Winter to showcase just how easy it is to turn this box into anything you want with your customization choices. Subscribers can mix it up with a little bit of beauty, lifestyle, and anything else imaginable, or build their box around their interests. There are always 1-2 choices I have personally had trouble with choosing between in each bracket.
More Customization Freedom
Starting in Summer 2021, Annual Members had the ability to customize their entire box while Seasonal Members received an additional customization option, giving them more power over their item choices.
Good Vibes
By Spring 2021, FFF had already made a million dollars in donations to non-profits. And each quarter has a specially chosen charity. Spring 2021 was One Tree Planted, Summer 2021 was Make-A-Wish, Fall 2021 was Art in Action, and Winter 2021 was Toys for Tots. More good news? The Spring 2021 box featured the new packaging style and design which is aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of the brand. In 2021, FabFitFun also made a commitment to exclude certain ingredients from any beauty items in its boxes called the FabFitFun Standard.
What I Would Like to See in 2022
For 2022, I would love to see FabFitFun continue to expand customizations for all members. Not everyone can afford an annual membership and though I understand it is more ideal for the brand, I would love to see seasonal members have even more creative control over their curations. I hope the trend of great brands continues too!
My Favorite Products from FabFitFun in 2021
Sunday Riley A+ High-Dose Retinoid Serum, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $85
From Winter 2021:
I mean, this was an easy pick. This is one of my favorite non-Rx retinol formulas and it is on the pricier side. I have gone through a few bottles of this on and off and it absolutely helps to even out skin texture and tone, while helping to fade and fight fine lines. I also appreciate how it is still somehow gentle and doesn’t make my skin drier or red. This is the sort of product that I like to use before bed as the step before my night cream. Any sort of retinol can make you more sun-sensitive, even in winter, so be sure to wear your SPF!
Alice + Olivia Daisy Print Duffle Bag
From Spring 2021:
I ended up grabbing the bag because I LOVE daisies and I am always on the lookout for a good weekender-sized bag. Even though travel isn’t a thing for me right now, I use them to haul art supplies to and from studio sessions. The main color of this bag is black, meaning it shouldn’t show dirt (or paint!) very easily. This is a great size for lots of clothing or supplies and the fabric is a heavier canvas texture that should hold up nicely over time. It arrived with a black adjustable shoulder strap and a very cute zipper pull.
OUAI Detox Shampoo + Scalp Massager – Retail Value $40.00
From Summer 2021:
This was an easy choice! I am OUAI crazy over anything from OUAI and I jumped at the chance to try their detox shampoo. It came bundled with a fun scalp scrubber with flexible silicone nubs that give the perfect massage with or without shampoo. This is the sort of shampoo I would probably use once a week as it really does strip out anything leftover in your hair. While my roots get oily, my hair is pretty dry, so I used this on my roots only and in combination with the massager. My hair felt SO clean and the volume factor was through the roof. If you are someone like me who uses a ton of dry shampoo (or really, any hair products) this is a great once-a-week treat to reset your tresses and cleanse your scalp. It also left my hair smelling like OUAI’s Melrose scent, one of my faves and also one I already own as a perfume.
Summer Fridays CC Me Serum, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $64.00
From Summer 2021:
This was actually the first of two vitamin C products I chose for this curation which was partly by accident and partly because of how great vitamin C is for your skin. Why not experiment with a few to see what you like best, right? While I am a little wary of the Summer Fridays brand ever since that weird Boxycharm related recall of their Jet Lag mask (which was brand-wide and not just a Boxycharm issue) I wanted to give this brand another fair chance. Like most SF products, the packaging is both minimal and beautiful. This serum arrived in a frosted white glass bottle with a simple peach label. I scan the ingredient list and I like what I am seeing. Loads of hero-niacinamide, two forms of super stable vitamin C, peptides, green tea extract, and squalane make this serum really nourishing and beneficial for the skin. It has a creamy sort of scent that is very light and the texture is a light and refreshing gel that absorbs in a snap. While I am still a little wary of this brand (hey, I don’t forget things easily!) I did really like this serum.
Golden Rabbit Cobalt Swirl Small Dutch Oven – Retail Value $50.50
From Fall 2021:
This little dutch oven is so cute! Now, be aware, when it says small, it is small. It measures about 12.5″ wide x 9.5″ deep x 6.75″ high and holds 4 quarts. This is actually a great size for a dinner for two, but if you are expecting larger, you might be disappointed. I personally love the blue and white enamel design that reminds me of my grandmother’s vintage cookware. I have used it for a slow-cooking stew, frying up sausage for pasta, and even reheating takeout. It isn’t non-stick by any means but some olive oil helps and it is very easy to clean.
Dose & Co. Pure Collagen – Retail Value $24.99
From Fall 2021:
I really enjoy adding collagen to my protein shakes because I feel like it has helped strengthen my nails and honestly helps with joint pain from my morning gym trips. This brand makes a powder that is honestly flavorless and mixes really well in cold or hot beverages. Why did I add it to my “cozy” curation? Because it melts into hot chocolate really well!
BITE Beauty Power Move Soft Matte Lipstick in ‘Sugar Buns’ – Retail Value $28.00
From Winter 2021:
BITE is a brand that I have had really good luck with. Their formulas always feel as nourishing as they do flattering (aside from the chocolate brown shade I received once. Not a good look). This Power Move formula is a “hydrating matte” finish and I would agree with that. It does have that matte look without ever fully drying, making it very comforting to wear. Sure, it might not last as long as a more matte matte, but I will trade the comfort for losing a few hours of wear any day. I have never minded reapplying lipstick! This shade is described as a pink nude which I think is pretty accurate, though it might be more subtle if you have a warmer and/or deeper skin tone. The pigment is great and I can see this being really flattering for loads of people.
Who Do I Recommend FabFitFun For?
FabFitFun is the ideal subscription for someone who likes variety and customizations. It is also a great option for someone who might not be into the idea of a monthly subscription but would like some fun four times a year instead of 12. If you love beauty, this is a great option for you too, as the brands that have been arriving inside are stellar and absolutely add huge value when compared to buying them at retail. This is also a wonderful treat for anyone who likes to shop through their boxes as you can use that customization power to pick items for everyone on your shopping list, any time of year.
